My definition of a soup isn’t the same as the definition employed by the Masterchef judges. A meal with a watery sauce isn’t a soup 🤷🏼‍♀️

So the latest on the Iain Wares (Edinburgh schoolteacher) extradition from South Africa to face dozens and dozens of charges. Extradition hearing April 16 postponed because prosecutor took ill. Prosecutor organised deputy for April 28 hearing. Everyone turned up, however deputy prosecutor went on holiday that morning. Now postponed until 8 June. This 18 months after the extradition request landed in RSA. We fight on.

@London_W4 @Fox_Claire We own a farm, we have had things stolen including quad bikes, people trespassing. We have CCTV, dash cam footage and still the police aren’t interested. The only time is if you are in fear for your life, so next time lie and say you believe they are still there.

I was woken this morning at 1:45am to the sound of breaking glass and then the sound of an outboard boat engine heading away. My youngest daughter lives in a narrowboat that is moored alongside mine here in London. As I got up to see what was going on, my phone went and it was her. She had woken to someone smashing her bedroom window with a hammer, two feet from her head as she slept. She was covered in glass. Her bed was covered in glass. I rushed around and her window was completely smashed. It will have taken them several attempts to smash the whole window out as they had. Everywhere was glass. On my daughter, on the bed. Everywhere. She called the police in tears and badly shaken and they told her they weren’t going to bother coming out as it had happened now and that was that. She got a crime reference number. A young woman in London has her bedroom window smashed in the middle of the night as she sleeps and the police aren’t interested. I need to tell you all; it is essential that you realise that we do not have a police service in this country. It is essential that you realise that and take measures as I am doing, to protect yourself and your family. You will not receive help from the police. I am not now going to rant about who I believe they are here to protect, but it certainly isn’t decent, working people like my daughter. I’m incredibly proud of my daughter who is of course, very, very shaken up. This was an horrendous incident but with a bloke smashing her bedroom window in as she slept, I don’t need to explain that it could have been far worse. I could not despise the police more. They’re not fit to wear a uniform. I shall ensure that anyone who harms my family will be far less healthy than they began the day. I’m really angry. I’ve spent the night emptying the millions of glass shards from my daughter’s duvet, sheets and pillowcases. Her head was within two feet of where someone with a hammer was smashing in her bedroom window. I’ve boarded up the window to make it secure. Take care out there people. You are alone when this happens. Ensure you can protect yourself. It’s all you have. There is no support and no backup. Please realise that and take action to defend yourself and your family.

I have recently completed jury service - not ideal timing immediately after launching a national political party, but there we go. Having seen the system from the inside, I can see it needs a fundamental overhaul. The way jurors are treated by the staff and the process is appalling. Decent taxpaying men and women doing their civic duty are not properly compensated and are constantly messed around. Losing time and money. There one day, nothing happens. The next, nothing happens. It’s unclear, confusing and disrespectful to working men and women. I absolutely believe in the jury trial, and voted to defend it in Parliament. But like so much else wrong with the state, the system needs tearing apart and starting again - giving the jurors more respect and compensation. I don’t care, I don’t need the money. It’s the self-employed men and women losing thousands who I worry about. I spoke to several who were going to be significantly out of pocket. That is just wrong. Time wasted, badly planned, and put the accused at the centre of the process. Strong confirmation to me that the law is now half a cut above itself! I will be raising my experience in Parliament in the hope to improve the system. The judge’s name who demanded I attend? Rupert Lowe. You couldn’t make it up.

For over four years after my boys died, I couldn’t step foot inside the cemetery. I’d drive by, whisper a quiet “hello” and keep going… the pain was just too heavy. Then in 2025, I finally went in. I laid down on the ground beside them, cried my eyes out, and begged Jesus for a sign. 💔 He didn’t show me anything that day. I still don’t know if I need a regular relationship with this place. I want so badly to be a good mom to them — but the thought of standing in front of their tombstone shakes me to my core. This week, something struck me while reading the Bible: it never mentions Saint Mary visiting Jesus’ tomb. Could it be because she knew in her heart that He would conquer death? Or what exactly? Why did others rush to the tomb but not her? I don’t have the answers… just a grieving and trying to find my way.

On day 1 of my high school history class, our professor got up and said You are 15 or 16 years old. 200 years ago people your age were married, planted crops, had children, and built a cabin by winter. You can do your homework. The bar set for you historically is embarrassingly low. You are not dealing with regional famine or plague. You do not have to save your family from marauders or go into battle to destroy your enemies. You have to sit down and learn from someone who cares about you in a safe, air-conditioned room. You have no excuses.

18 yrs ago, I was violently assaulted & raped while walking alone. Every year on the anniversary of that day, I go on a solo hike to remind myself that there is still beauty in this world & I can enjoy it. This yr, I pushed myself & did a few days of the Southwest Coast Path…

A friend has booked her winter India 🇮🇳 holiday already. She goes every year for 3 months starting mid December. The cost? £5,000 for her and her husband. This includes all flights, even a flight to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 for a week or so, accommodation that's not too shabby - hotels with swimming pools and air con - all food and drink. And she loves a cocktail. Or six. 🍸🍹 My Tenerife fortnight over Christmas and New Year is not far off that price (sorry pensioner haters, suck it up). 🤣 I just wish I could endure the long flight to India ✈️ but 4 hours to Tenerife is enough for me and it's not that I hate flying; it's the uncomfortable seats with not much legroom (unless you pay silly money for better seats), the cabin crew constantly floating up and down the aisle bashing into your legs, the loud announcements - because don't we all need to buy a watch and lottery ticket at 6.30am. 🙄 And if that's not enough, it's the captain telling you something, constantly, over loudspeakers that are so muffled you've no idea what he's saying. The toilets where men have splashed everywhere, little Tarquin (age 6) whose head keeps bobbing up in front of you asking what you're watching and what you're reading. Incessantly. 😡 And it's not just Tarquin (age 6). It's his cousins (Taylor age 2) constantly kicking your seat and her sister (Demi age 5) whining "Are we nearly there yet?" at least 10 times while you're still on the runway at Stansted. While mum and dad snore softly. And there's always a screaming baby. Always. 🍼😡 And of course you're wedged into a seat next to the one person who hasn't yet started the weight loss jabs and whose damp flesh spills over into your personal space. 🤢🤮 And when you get there after you've waited an hour for your luggage that the baggage handler has just thrown onto the buggy breaking its wheels, you have the interminable wait on the transfer coach while Brenda and Brad from Bridlington (or Bude) come strolling up saying "Sorry to keep you all waiting but there was a queue in Costa" because they couldn't manage a 45 minute drive to the resort without clutching an overpriced coffee in a cardboard cup. So 3 months in India sounds a fabulous and cheap way of avoiding the long British winter. 🌨️🥶 But it'll be Tenerife again for me because, you know, flying. 😜

@Jan_Leeming I really don’t see how, if I can’t understand them surely it’s just that and nothing else. I say it to my Scottish and Irish friends sometimes. Nothing about where you live or come from. If you I guess say you can’t understand their accent it maybe bette?

One would have to be careful. That could be construed in a way that could get you into trouble.
Sue@nooneknowsmeso

@Jan_Leeming Just say you don’t understand them and say you will call back, their calls are recorded and so hopefully something would then be done, but we all have to start doing it for it to work.
