@realEstateTrent We moved countries recently and we have 142 boxes worth of apparently deeply sentimental stuff in storage.

Did some super quick research so please correct me if these numbers are wrong: Most U.S. consumers who rent self-storage units spend about $1,200 to $1,800 per year. Meanwhile, the average value of the items they store is under $2,000. Make it make sense.

Just got off the phone with someone that sold their business for $50,000,000. Lost his sense of purpose. I can’t tell you how often I hear this same story.

@Noahpinion This post is ridiculous, both for the blatant lack of understanding of Europe, and the comments this shit illicits. Europe is not on it's way to anything other than what it's always been. Go back to writing smart shit, Noah. The stupid click bait is annoying.

I do think Europe's immigration strategy has been generally bad, and they should probably fix it. But unlike JD Vance, I don't get up every morning and obsess over it. The UK and Sweden and the Netherlands are not my countries; they're someone else's countries.

@Noahpinion That can be true and also ineffective. We can decide that things are unfair at the testing stage, and adjust them there, or we can make sure that things are fair from the start. Most countries do the latter. The US never seems to.

@Noahpinion I think you are aiming at the wrong people. This is a very common belief among the dark intellectual bunch. Second, any progressive who thinks that the tests are unfair would point to cultural bias - they would say these are tests of conformity, not intelligence.

Yes. Some progressives quietly believe Black and Latino kids are simply naturally ineducable, and so we shouldn't even try. They are wrong. And their wrong belief is doing a lot of damage to our education system.

@jchal The reason for rent control is so that people with diverse careers and backgrounds who work in the same area can live in that area. It's not about who deserves what, it's about communities.

Rent control is theft. No one “deserves” to live in Manhattan at an insane loss to the landlord.

@Noahpinion All the apologists for incel terrorism and the rise of Trump were more than happy to point to reasons. First off, these people are obviously a mess. But we can also ask ourselves some good 'why' questions. What's behind the rise in 2023?

@Noahpinion This group was never representative of the free palestine movement. They are small to the point of meaninglessness. Are there shitheads that support Palestine? Yes. Does supporting Palestine make you a shithead? No.

9 major money milestones to accomplish before 40 1. Eliminate High-Interest Debt If you're carrying credit card debt over 6%, you’re lighting your money on fire. Kill that debt aggressively. 2. Build a 6–12 Month Emergency Fund A true emergency fund gives you breathing room. 3. Automate Your Investments Put 10–20% of your income into boring index funds. If you can't do that, start at 5%. Raise it 1% every year. 4. Master Your Career Your income is your #1 wealth-building tool so build the skills of finding your dream job and negotiating your salary 5. Know Your Number and Why “$1.6M” means nothing unless you know exactly what it’s for—travel? freedom? helping family? Boats? Vague goals lead to vague lives. 6. Build a Shared Money System With Your Partner Follow my system to know exactly when to talk about money, exactly what to say, and how to build a shared vision of a Rich Life. 7. Create Your “No List” What do you love spending money on? And what do you NOT love spending money on? Get clear. That one list can save you tens of thousands over your lifetime. 8. Simplify Your Credit Cards Two great cards. Maybe 3. Done. 9. Revisit Your Rich Life Vision Annually What mattered at 30 won’t matter at 40. Update your vision yearly and use your money to live intentionally, not reactively. I have a new video below

@dagorenouf Nobody thinks being a man is bad. Being aimlessly angry is objectively bad. Anger is for when you are threatened. If you are not actively being threatened you don't need to be angry. Anger is like fear. If you don't have an immediate reason for it, it's an issue.

Dagobert - Corporate sellout 👔
I don't know what to do with all this anger. I think problem in current society is male anger has no good outlet. Because being a man is considered bad, so it's hard to embrace our raw energy so we can then use it for good.

Yes. All of those desperately poor people that take all the low paying jobs and also drive up the cost of housing. The rise in housing prices is caused by speculation in an artificially scarce market with low interest rates. Also real estate agents don't help.
Don Rumata@realjohnofgaunt

@levelsio Housing is different because we have fixed supply of buildable land and growing population. If it was not for immigration house prices would not have raised a penny in most of Europe the last 30 years. Immigration is the huge issue. We are importing millions without building

@levelsio This isn't really accurate - at least, not at the state/province and federal levels. At the local level everyone is beholden to local boards and housing authorities, and whenever they hold meetings it's only angry NIMBYs that show up. YIMBYs have to represent.

US gov owns 28% of land, similar rest of world: Canada: 89% Australia: 90% UK: 17% Netherlands: 25% Germany: 20% Do you really still think there's a shortage of land to build on? It's governments blocking it Of course sometimes for good reason, like preserve nature Often it's more to preserve house prices though 🤓
