This weekend has really shown me that the US has/will totally lose the ai race unless either grok becomes the front runner or anthropic and openai reverse course on safety. Doing meaningful security work is not possible with current models and you're forced to use Chinese models. Given the way things are going, I think Elon is the only hope.

It is though. Models labelled "Private" are private because no data is retained on the prompt/response. Nothing could be subpoena'd which is a good test. And for the extra paranoid, models labelled E2EE are fully encrypted round trip, and the privacy can be verified by any user.

Running models at home is cool if you're a hobbyist But it does not make any economic sense. "But it's private!" Well, so is Venice.ai/api You can get an API key and tell your agent to use deepseek-v4-flash-0731 from Venice in 2 mins and save thousands of dollars and hours of hardware/software config time. (and you can switch between any/all models as they come out on the same API key rather than trying to update hardware every week)

NVK has gone out of his way to lie (or blatantly misread) our code to FUD a competitor on Christmas Eve, abhorrent as that is. Unfortunately we are all blocked by NVK so have no way to respond directly to him. The code he’s screenshotted (and not linked to, funnily enough!) is only used for randomness functions that do not require the slower but more secure multi-source entropy, I.e. side-channel attack protection. Seed generation has and always will call all three noise sources via common.noise.ALL, encompassing MCU, SE, and Avalanche noise sensor. The penalties for not understanding it well enough are just less obvious upfront now. But it’s still your ceiling.

Not really. It barely kinda works through the retcons, and is much simpler supporting set up for the obvious pay off. Humanity doesn’t make sense as it’s singular “enemy” when forerunners are the ones who actually defeated it in the bear novels. Gravemind would also have no means of knowing they were “adopted” lmao.

Hot take: Corporate AAA gaming is dead. In a few years every “AAA” title will be made by actual tasteful indie devs with total creative control and no committees. There’s no reason to have a multi hundred person studio any longer, and in fact it’s a detriment.
