This weekend has really shown me that the US has/will totally lose the ai race unless either grok becomes the front runner or anthropic and openai reverse course on safety. Doing meaningful security work is not possible with current models and you're forced to use Chinese models. Given the way things are going, I think Elon is the only hope.

One of many stories: on Christmas Eve 2023, NVK tweeted that there was an entropy bug in our @FoundationHQ Passport for seed generation. No responsible disclosure – just a tweet to his entire audience on Christmas Eve. He was wrong, thankfully.

It is though. Models labelled "Private" are private because no data is retained on the prompt/response. Nothing could be subpoena'd which is a good test. And for the extra paranoid, models labelled E2EE are fully encrypted round trip, and the privacy can be verified by any user.

Running models at home is cool if you're a hobbyist But it does not make any economic sense. "But it's private!" Well, so is Venice.ai/api You can get an API key and tell your agent to use deepseek-v4-flash-0731 from Venice in 2 mins and save thousands of dollars and hours of hardware/software config time. (and you can switch between any/all models as they come out on the same API key rather than trying to update hardware every week)

Get the Nvidia DGX Sparks right now before they sell out. They will sell out soon with the latest DeepSeek V4 Flash drop. I guarantee it. Like an idiot, I already spent my AI budget on a 128GB Macbook Pro M5 Max. I should have bought two DGX Sparks instead. AI is developing so fast!

@mydorazio @elshayib_ Programming has always been about knowing and concretely understanding what you want at an insane level of detail, within a given environment/terrain. It still is. The penalties for not understanding it well enough are just less obvious upfront now. But it’s still your ceiling.

@elshayib_ @NotASithLord Thank you for reminding me that programming is as much about knowing the tools as writing the code. This is still far out of reach of us programmer wannabes.

DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 in Hermes Agent and one prompt, took 32 minutes and cost 0.07$, this model is so cheap to the point where 2 dollars can last you a full day.

Not really. It barely kinda works through the retcons, and is much simpler supporting set up for the obvious pay off. Humanity doesn’t make sense as it’s singular “enemy” when forerunners are the ones who actually defeated it in the bear novels. Gravemind would also have no means of knowing they were “adopted” lmao.

@bergealex4 I had no idea cold card messed up their RNG implementation because they were too focused on CTV lol. I’m not the one who sounds completely detached from reality.

@NotASithLord Gross generalization completely detached from reality. This attitude is why we are dealing with this predicament. Bunch of larping.

People aren’t using passphrases. People aren’t using multivendor msig. Give us all a break and keep smartypants covenants comments for yourselves. If 10th of energy used to try to activate CTV was spent on hardening existing solutions maybe today would be less of a disaster.

@RetronicGamer @AphonicWanderer Meanwhile the Gravemind, a lovecraft horror that retains hundreds of thousands of years of knowledge from assimilating his victims: “I am a monument to all of your sins” “Child of my enemy why have you come”.

It’s still unfortunate to see how people will straight up call Spark a liar or straight up crazy as an excuse for the disconnection between Bungies lore and 343’s. It’s like, Spark is correct about everything for 343 fans unless humanity’s connection to their ancestors is brought up? It’s just not right.

@cremieuxrecueil I’m surprised a jurisdiction like El Salvador hasn’t just made all peptides and experimental medications legal under doctor supervision. So much potential for medical tourism hubs.

Pretty soon, if you need access to an experimental new drug—say, for your rare type of cancer—then you'll be going to Montana. The treasure state is going to allow Americans to access drugs that passed a phase I trial, making miracle cures accessible long before FDA approval!

On harnesses, I vacillate between three beliefs: - the less harness, the better. Models are the magic - post training a model and harness is dramatically better and the model providers win - harnesses have real independent value from the model I have no idea which is right.

“Well in the novels…” says the Nu-Halo fan. Well you know what else is in the novels? Humans are Forerunner, Chapter 35 of Contact Harvest. They just love to cherry pick lore and outright lie about the past because they were psyopped by Greg Bear’s 343Runner Trilogy. ◯
