@CrystalQuin I think they missed the whole eating/sleeping and why it was so important. Also didn’t really go into how much rocky was alone and how much of a decision it was to go back and how hard it was to find him.

@emzanotti @willcollier K-12 population is like 15% of Americans. 99.9% is wrong/hyperbole, but it's certainly north of 85% who were not in school, the vast vast majority of whom were most likely not watching live.

I remember Columbia, not Challenger, but I think this is wrong. Teachers competed for Christa McAuliffe’s spot. There was a full court press on incorporating Challenger into elementary education. It wasn’t typical to watch a shuttle liftoff, but Challenger’s was intentionally broadcast to schools.

99.9% of people who "experienced" the Challenger disaster saw it on replay and now remember it as live. Almost NO ONE was watching. Everyone thinks they were. It's a fascinating collective false memory.

@willcollier I think it was a specifically elementary school phenomenon, so there’s a bunch of elderly Millennials who have a collective trauma.

Anyone who experienced the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, like I did, is probably a bit hesitant to get too excited about the Artemis II launch today. I truly hope our children don’t have to experience such tragedy. May the Universe welcome them and return them safely home 🙏

@CSElmendorf @sdamico I’m no expert but it feels like it could be a challenging site for development. It’s landfill which I assume makes building more complicated. Also, it’s on the “wrong” side of the 80 so there’s no infrastructure, no commercial areas, transit, etc - a little like Treasure Island

So it looks like CA taxpayers will be shelling out the big bucks to "protect" 160 acres of land on the border of Berkeley and Albany from any housing development. Wouldn't a new waterfront park have more value if more people could live beside it?

The shuttered racetrack could be transformed into a 161-acre waterfront park linking Albany, Berkeley and miles of East Bay shoreline, in a deal announced Tuesday by the Trust for Public Land. sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…

when I was at my first tech job right out of high school, I brought down the company for 30 min. I was sure I'd be fired. I wrote a post-mortem noting how dumb I had been. my team lead read it and removed all references to my name. I learned a lot about engineering that day

in sports whenever a loss happens, it is the team who loses, never an individual no matter how much the individual played a role in it. you win as a team & you lose as a team… there is simply no mechanic as a leader to ever throw anyone on your team under the bus. this is a classy & human response to the incident. kudos to the anthropic crew for handling it well & moving forward.

I think Amanda and West were hooking up for much longer than they claim because there is no way Amanda finally left Kyle without having a backup plan. She’s not that strong and is very male centered. #SummerHouse

@kkristenrob This except I’m bumping 4 to 1. Amanda absolutely forgot her friend’s feelings but has been w K for 10+ yrs and not much dating experience and probably ate up whatever attention West was giving her. He ignored that (or worse took advantage) ON TOP of how it would affect Ciara

1. Amanda is dead wrong and gross for what she’s doing to Ciara. 2. Amanda did not deserve how her husband treated her. 3. Kyle is not absolved of anything. 4. West is a piece of shit for hurting Ciara this bad AGAIN, especially after working so hard to gain her trust back.

@mattyglesias I don’t know. Apply this to any other major park - should we develop the majority of Golden Gate Park? Central Park? I’d argue that modesty in public parks has never been essential to city livability. Probably best to fix housing AND make great new parks.
