TFW you're trying to support your family members with their 4yr old's oppositional phase, which includes putting in an excruciating effors not to laugh when said 4yr old gets frustrated & shouts "bumhole!". It was the second, "everyone's a bumhole!" that nearly got me. #childfree

@Poochface I like family rooms, excellent idea. As many parent friends have told me, someone actually thought about the "where would I put the baby while I have a wee" issue. And you are right, disabled parents exist - tho the changing rack is often too high for wheelchair height.

@notwaving Can I just point out that some disabled people need to use baby changing facilities sometimes. They should be in accessible, ladies and gents toilets. More places should have family rooms which would help a lot of folk.

It's really bugging me that in the debate about #transrights & bathroom access in the UK at the moment, the disabled loo is once again being offered as a neutral option. This is not a space for non-disabled people to use! Bad enough we have to have the baby change in there...

@JimDodgy @RachelCDailey_ ps: butch lesbians apparently may never have minded being challenged, but my friend who later died of breast cancer was certainly upset to be harassed by other women and told to get out!

@notwaving @RachelCDailey_ All everyone needs to do is use the bathroom of their sex. It’s weird how it’s being made into a huge issue because we managed for decades without a problem. Butch lesbians were challenged occasionally but say they didn’t mind, it was easy to sort out with a quick chat.

It was never about keeping women and girls safe, it was always about locking trans women out of living full lives

@JimDodgy @RachelCDailey_ "It’s weird how it’s being made into a huge issue because we managed for decades without a problem." This is the point, basically. Trans people have been using whichever bathroom they feel comfortable in for time immemorial, and it hasn't been a big deal.

@BBCNews @IndiaWilloughby has posted that he will continue to live his life as a woman implying he will carry on unlawfully using women’s spaces. These men have no respect for women’s rights and boundaries

@2024Mummy35918 I don't think public toilets in the UK are the hotbed for sexual assault you're claiming they are. I don't doubt it has happened, but I don't think I've ever actually seen a man in a regular (non-gay-club) ladies' room (who wasn't looking for his drunk wife!).

@notwaving How are you so stupid to ignore these men have been raping women and children in their spaces!!!! Why do you think mens rights to feel safe trump a womans right to BE safe?

Not the side I usually fall on, but am really troubled by implications of this for many trans people who will be at greater risk if they simply switch public bathrooms as currently constituted. I hope there is a way that women’s right to single-sex spaces can be delivered without putting others at greater risk

Single-sex spaces - such as changing rooms and toilets - must be used on the basis of biological sex, new guidance from the equalities watchdog has confirmed. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

I bet if you mapped all the “you have a gender neutral loo at home” locations there could be a perfectly workable network of amenities for all the him/shim/theybies to use! TIME TO PUT YOUR U-BEND WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS, ALLES!

@Aspsfthbrainrot @phant1stic I think it's an option for people who feel unsafe or uncomfortable in gendered bathrooms - but not for literally every trans person in the UK, many of whom would much rather not take up a space needed by disabled people when the other toilets are right there.

@phant1stic Speaking as a disabled trans person, use it. The lack of a gender neutral bathroom is an access issue and your right to be safe via gender neutral facilities is as important as my being safe because there are grab rails.

THIS!! I hate having to use the disabled toilets out and about but im at the stage in my transition where I dont feel safe using other options! the only other choice is to hold it and risk infection! we need gender neutral bathrooms for everyone

@niktharrison @AliArthPainter Yeah it's rather notable that it's non-disabled cis people making this suggestion, without any consultation of the people involved, when they could just... not be bigots and accept that trans ppl have been using public toilets for decades without a fuss.

@AliArthPainter i'm trying very hard not to get angry about the fact that we were saying this was gonna happen they're the ones who suggested it, they're getting what they want - AGAIN it's abhorrent that it's happening, but when *aren't* disabled people the ones being punished for bigotry

No one is talking about single occupancy bathrooms FFS.. I have literally had to use bathrooms like these.. the US has the worst and least private public toilets on the planet I am sure.. and no I don’t want Males in here .. it’s bad tf enough.. do you even know how many women in the US have urinary issues caused by bladder distention trying to avoid bathrooms that have always left much to be desired but are now full of gotdamned Troons!

@notwaving @RachelCDailey_ Don’t worry you can usually spot them a mile off from their body structure, shape, stance, gait, height.. all that before you get to what *they* think is important (hair, skin, makeup, clothes)

@Autistic_Lauren Sumo. It's a really fun thing to be into, lots of lore to learn and there are 6 15-day tournaments a year so it doesn't take over my whole life. Oh, and trying to write a 10-word story. Harder than you'd think.
