The concept of comparing fursuit prices across 13 years after everything that has happened is insane to me

economy? Skill level? Supply and demand? Material cost? Varying/rising cost of living? The fact that there are 4 thousand suits available on dealers den at varying prices levels from struggling artist but we still generalize the starting price at 10k somehow? Idek where to start

idk i think its neat that people think im as good as one of my personal favorite makers!! but i totally get why others are upset or how by a slight change of wording to that sentiment could be hurtful

i dont really get asked to copy any styles, but I get a lot of people relating my style to a specific large maker in a “well i cant get a slot with them but yours look just as good” which i entirely understand why someone else might be upset but honestly im flattered 🤣

I feel like the only fursuit maker who prefers hand carved/foam casted bases over TPU…

We need to stop taking screen caps of our fur fabric receipts and saying “this is why fursuits are so expensive” clients aren’t buying fabric from us they are buying costumes and our style. Materials should be the smallest part of a quoted fursuit cost.

@vulpinesprite I think 0 bids actually prove OP’s point - no one is jumping on the deals! You should watch these listings, most often smaller makers’ work goes unsold and are auto relisted due to lack of interest ^^

You can still get cheap suits and art! If you dont want professional luxuries, you are not required to pay professional prices 🩷

Throwing in my 2c Premades have a huge place in this fandom. And here are my reasons in no particular order. ✨️I use them to experiment with new species, color combos, designs, even new techniques. They put food on the table while allowing me to make whatever I like alongside custom client work. I dont /have/ to follow a ref with premade work if I dont want to. ✨️Making premades in my down time, between commissions, or leading up to cons keep my skills sharp! During slow months when the clients aren't biting I can still use my skills to create. ✨️Most of my personal characters were at one point premades I either kept or bought from others/was gifted. Seeing a premade and feeling like "this is the one! This is me!" Is such a fun experience. ✨️Premades can give someone a fursuit without the heartbreak. In a world where there's a *greater than zero* number of makers who fail their clients, it can be hard to trust artists to deliver custom work (this is a whole can of worms I've opened before) and buying a premade can cut out all that worry. ✨️Premades are a great into to suiting. Maybe you don't have a character yet but you want to see what all the fuss of suiting is all about. A premade can give someone a reason to jump in and might even lead them to eventually commissioning a character of their own. In conclusion, premades are just as good as custom work. There's nothing less creative about them whatsoever. Makers who do custom work only are cool Makers who do premade work only are cool Makers who do both are also just as cool. @DIVIIDAE Hahha. Well until those makers figure out the method, potentially those makers are posting their commissions and your algorithm isnt showing them to you because they arent doing well by their followers! Everyone big is closed for comms regularly, which implies they are full 🤷‍♀️

@DIVIIDAE I think its fair to claim “algorithm” when the avg content consumer doesnt care for someone elses commission and so the post doesnt do as well. Trust me, its frustrating from a maker standpoint for my premade to hit 12k likes vs a comm to have 600. (insta)

@nova_lynx_ I think it’s a direction the fandom is going a from consumer thing though I notice a lot of small artists don’t exactly know how to brand themselves online so often chalk it down to an algorithm thing

@echo_the_dogg @otterbutt iirc: OP sold the suit to 2nd owner, the 2nd owner (wrongfully) sold to a 3rd owner. 3rd/current owner didnt do anything wrong, but OP is (understandably) upset about the situation. OP has since been continuously making the current owner uncomfortable with posts/mentions of suit

@nova_lynx_ @otterbutt oh so they sold it to them, then they had some sort of fight or bad interactions and seeing the suit on the old owner triggers some negative reactions in the new owner? If thats the case thats really shitty :/ i dont think they will stop posting pics tho best to sell the suit :/

@echo_the_dogg @otterbutt the current owner has requested for the previous owner to stop posting the suit, due to them having too many negative interactions for them to feel comfortable with it anymore. As you can see from the tone of OP they don’t particularly like the current owner, hence the disrespect
