People seem to not like remembering that the US was intervening on behalf of another country and not everyone in South Vietnam was just under Western occupation praying to one day join their northern comrades. One of the oddest experiences I've ever had was when I was out for a walk and some black lady passing by said "Your treachery is the reason why your own people hate you". This is word-for-word, I remember it vividly because it was so bizarre. I presume she saw I was wearing a Nixon pin on my coat as an inside joke amongst my friends.
