i get the emotional reasoning for this take, but it discounts the fact that AI filmmaking still requires vision, storytelling chops, etc. the hobbyist that relies on AI for the entire process will always create slop. the ARTIST using these as TOOLS will create something else.

the window for experimenting with llms has basically closed now. the megacorps have fully hit escape velocity and are shipping new products and new features daily. the shift is that they’re not just shipping llms anymore, they’re using llms to build products and improve existing ones at scale. the wild west era of llms isn’t really the wild west anymore. a year ago, this could’ve been an indie dev side project, maybe even a monetizable product. it was literally so easy that the only real bottleneck was your free time. now, whatever idea you have, you should basically assume google/anthropic/oai will build some version of it within a week and wipe out most of the startup surface area around it

@nicholasdimoro @KSimback i think the better sell is here any old laptop + Hermes + GLM 5.1. that makes the barrier to entry nearly non-existent ($20/mo or whatever it is for GLM). I get the value in Mac Minis if you want to dabble in local models, but it's not needed for Hermes/GLM cloud.

@nvllsmith @KSimback yes but give yourself extra head room just in case you need it. the more memory the better the local models you'll be able to run, and you can put some local services on there too

Mac mini + Hermes + GLM-5.1 is the current best setup for running good agents cost effectively

Okay, this is ridiculous. It is crazy to see people straight up saying Anthropic is lying about Mythos. Because that directly implies there's an industry-wide conspiracy going on and ALL of these companies are also lying on Anthropic's behalf? Why on Earth would their competitors - Google and Microsoft in particular - lie about this and not call them out? Instead, they happily join Project Glasswing and go on record, practically, that Mythos is this good and that they're working with Anthropic to put it to use. You people baffle me sometimes lmao.
