@GodEmperor1138 @SavageDipoto I don't know, I think it's pretty bad when you come up with weird "piggyback" plan instead of just sending your worst pitcher to the pen, then apply it inconsistently in a way that pisses everyone off, including the pitcher whose feelings you did it to protect in the first place.

I have been in Seattle sports media for a decade, been following many of the teams for 20 years. I honestly don't know that I've ever seen the fan base turn against a coach or manager the way that Mariners fans have with Dan Wilson.

@CorbinSmithNFL Part of it is that it wasn't a "turn" for many of us. A lot of fans wanted him gone after game 7, when he made one of the worst managerial decisions in history, and certainly the worst and most impactful in Mariners history.

@MarinerMuse I know, I know. But the original post you replied to suggested the fanbase was feeling all warm and fuzzy about him headed into the year. Meanwhile I was googling whether a manager had ever been fired in the same season he was named manager of the year, and I wasn't alone.

@54percenter @shannondrayer Being ready to try to go back out there isn't the same as "no symptoms." Concussions can change your entire personality and brain chemistry. Brandon Belt and Justin Morneau's were career-altering. Rushing a guy back from a brain injury is one of the stupidest things you can do.

@ColeYoungFan Kirby in particular could net a haul. Think 2 top-100 prospects plus other interesting pieces. Huge shot in the arm to a good but thin farm system. Not a lot of impact bats in this market, so those would be smaller deals. Taylor Ward would be a good get and shouldn't cost much.

@timeoutburner @Padsin8 @jayhaykid A funny thing to me about Ryan debates is it's "old school" fans who say he's one of the best ever but he looks better by modern stats than traditional ones. By ERA+ he's not even in the top 1,000. By FIP-, he's in the top 200. By fWAR, he's top 10 because of his longevity.
