It’s becoming more clear by the day that this teacher’s strike is purely political for the NDP & ATA - and the media is conducting the orchestra. Why don’t they want our children back in classrooms? Why are the media and Gil McGowan types hyping this - using words like “War” and “showdown?” Has anybody seen a msm story on the impacts to kids of being out of class this long? He started with a UR of about 6.5% , jumped it to 8.4% before dropping to approx. 7%. Trudeau got it to 5.7% before COVID got down to 5.28% in 2022, but has settled at 6.7% last month.

Reality check: revenue neutrality remains rare, as provinces often allocate funds elsewhere. 2⃣ "Carbon tax has no significant impact on food prices" (2019 and 2024) The compounded effects on transportation and production disproportionately impact rural and northern areas. This oversimplification has been widely criticized. 3⃣ "Carbon tax is the most effective emissions tool" (2020) While efficient in theory, its success depends heavily on complementary policies. Alone, it hasn’t spurred rapid decarbonization in many provinces. Notably, Canada’s emissions have increased in several years since 2019. 4⃣ "No harm to economic competitiveness" (2021) Farmers and manufacturers bear rising costs, such as grain drying, with rebates doing little to offset these expenses. Wholesale food prices in Canada have risen almost 40% more than in the U.S., partially due to the carbon tax, further impacting competitiveness. This remains a glaring blind spot in his analysis. Tombe’s theories might look solid on paper, but they often fail to account for regional disparities, sectoral realities, and political complexities. Theory ≠ Practice. Interestingly, while Tombe may come across as polite on X, he frequently amplifies posts from his close allies and goons like Leach and Fellows, who often double down on his claims. With this track record, it’s puzzling why he continues to write for @TheHubCanada and is paid by @CBCNews for regular commentary on the carbon tax.
