@botany_beck New record but now pulled up. Have you tried a small mirror to see the gills rather than destroying something that can be enjoyed by others and allowing it to complete its life cycle.

It’s always exciting to meet a new species for the first time and even more so when it’s a new record for a site! So you can imagine I was extremely pleased to spot the Earthy Waxcap, Cuphophyllus fornicatus at my favourite cemetery 🥰 #MushroomMonday #fungi

Since 2017, we’ve been working SO hard to restore rare & extinct plant populations in the region bit by bit, almost all on designated sites. How is anyone supposed to see nature recover when bodies like @NENorthWest set up to protect nature actively sanction its destruction?🌱💔

Five years ago, I was lucky enough to be involved in the reintroduction of White Beak-sedge to Greater Manchester after not being seen in the area for 200 years. From three small clumps, there are now hundreds of thousands of plants! Wowza. 😍🌱

The first of multiple planned NWRPI reintroductions for 2018 featuring White Beak Sedge (Rhynchospora alba). We have now planted it onto Risley Moss SSSI where the species hasn’t been seen in the vice county for around 150 years! Three plots have been established on the reserve

What’s that? You didn’t know @chesterzoo funded AMAZING, urgent, rare plant conservation work right here in the UK by @nwrpi & that it’s been recognised and published in @CIEEMnet ? oh catch up 😉 #PreventingExtinction
Joshua Styles@joshual951

My very first @CIEEMnet article has just been published which explores some of the conservation work I’ve been doing, funded by @ScienceatCZ and @Lancswildlife Keep an eye out for the article if you’re a CIEEM member! 🌱❤️

31/10/21 🎃 Cumbria - A #Halloween #fungi crawl across the grasslands of the Eden Valley produced an incredibly rewarding haul today. A large number of #waxcaps, including Ballerina (Porpolomopsis calyptriformis) and a Violet Coral (Clavaria zollingeri) left me rather spellbound!

22/5/21 Cumbria - It's not the best year for Coralroot #Orchids (Corallorhiza trifida) at Sandscale but I was able to sniff a couple out away from the paths. One was well hidden deep in Salix and there was a tiny example at the edge of a flooded observation slack #wildflowerhour

First flowers opened on the South Stack Fleaworts at the nursery today. Tephroseris integrifolia subsp. maritima occurs on a tiny strip of the Anglesey coast and (possibly) nowhere else. I have soooooo many questions about these plants! Not least of all 'how did they get there?'
