They take care of poor people dying from cancer no charge, ever. Just pure Christian charity. Then Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a law a few years ago that forces EVERY nursing home to use preferred pronouns, house patients by gender identity (not biological sex), and let people into opposite-sex bathrooms and spaces. The nuns said: “We treat everyone with dignity… but we can’t do that. It goes against our Catholic faith.” So New York is now threatening them with $5,000–$10,000 fines per violation, loss of their license, and jail time. These sisters who’ve spent their whole lives caring for the dying are being told: obey the gender rules or shut down. Unbelievable.

Look, when I went to college, after we graduated, the next step was we moved in with roommates, shared all the utilities, had or bought a used car, got minimal insurance coverage, never thought twice about health insurance because we reasoned we're young and healthy, a vacation was piling in a van together and driving to camp out at the Colorado River. If we had a credit card, it was a student visa with the maximum allowed $100.00 credit limit. Having our own one bedroom apartment, a new or near new car with a big monthly payment and full coverage required - we knew all that was out of our range going in. And the apartment was furnished from the Salvation Army or parents cast offs. And we were happy - hey, we were finally living on our own. We weren't eating out much or stocking expensive liquor at home, still we had fun. You think starting out should afford you more than it's reasonable to afford not long after getting out of school.
