I have spent a a lot more time in India last 2 years. I no longer recognize the country I was born in, grew up in. A country that over 10 years gained a 4T dollar economy but lost everything else. Our joy, our smiles, our soul, our ethos, our love, and most importantly, our (cobbled) togetherness. All we have now is a delusional arrogance/pride and hate and anger. Lot of anger. The foundations of a society can't be on arrogance, hate and othering. 10 years ago we were (poorer) Indians, but we were Indians. One nation, one people. Today we are Hindus (who are in danger), Muslims (who are traitors), Sikhs (who are Khalistanis), Kashmiris, Hindi speakers, non Hindi speakers, Maharashtrians, Biharis, North Indians, South Indians. We are many things now, many identities, but we are losing the only identity that matters. What our external enemies (Pakistan, China, extremist groups, add whatever name you want) couldn't achieve in 75 years, Modi Government managed in just 10 years. We learned that the most effective weapon required to destroy a country/society is not nukes, not armies, not terrorist groups. All it takes is a sold out media, a corrosive government, and 4 social media apps.

The complete absence of critical thinking in Indian society is a matter of grave concern. Why can’t people think beyond what is told to them? Does this reflect the limitations of our education system?

This is very shameful from Arnab Goswami, Godi media journalist No questions to Home Minister No questions to Prime Minister No questions to Intelligence He is blaming the Supreme Court for #Pahalgam because court asked govt to hold assembly elections in J&K. 🚨⚡ If BJP was under Supreme Court's pressure then why didn't they boycott the elections?

Mr. Stalin, Before seeking clarifications from Hon PM Narendra Modi ji, you need a deep understanding of National Education Policy. First you need to study what exactly NEP is ! Here is link for your ref - education.gov.in/national-educa… #NEP never insisted or made compulsion on language choice but only asks to study any 2 Indian languages other than English, out of 3. As far as Maharashtra is concerned, we are open to Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sanskrit or any language of student’s choice which they wish to study as the third language. Main question is why are you not open to multi-lingualism & have a problem if someone wants to study in Hindi❓ @mkstalin #Maharashtra
M.K.Stalin@mkstalin

Facing a massive backlash for imposing Hindi as the third language, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis now claims that only Marathi is compulsory in the state. This is a clear manifestation of his trepidation over the widespread public condemnation against imposition of Hindi on non-Hindi speaking States. Hon'ble PM and Union Education Minister must clarify: * Does the Union Government officially endorse his position that no language other than Marathi is compulsory in Maharashtra as the third language under National Education Policy (#NEP)? * If so, will the Union government issue a clear directive to all states affirming that the NEP does not require the compulsory teaching of a third language? * Will the Union Government release the Rs. 2,152 crore it unjustly withheld for Tamil Nadu on the premise that the state must subscribe to the teaching of a mandatory third language?

There is no visualisation in the Constitution of any authority above Parliament. Parliament is supreme; it is as supreme as every individual in the country. Every part of ‘We the People’ is an atom in democracy. This atomic power is reflected during elections. That is why ours is a democratic nation! @UnivofDelhi #DelhiUniversity #Kartavyam #Constitution #Parliament

@sardesairajdeep - Didn’t hear you applaud the restoration of Nalanda University - one that’s steeped in Bharatiya civilisational roots? As for the « bully », oh well, people on both sides - Bharat and the US, have thrown their respective bullies (Biden and Rahul Gandhi) straight into the trash and exactly where they belong!

Harvard Musing: in India we fight over ancient places of worship. In America, they are fighting to ensure that they retain the best universities in the world. Even if it means staring down a big bully. And holding onto academic freedom. That’s how great nations are built. Much for us to learn and embrace. 🙏👍

This is not a Bollywood film shoot — it’s India’s harsh reality. Tribal villages near Gujarat’s Narmada Dam and the Statue of Unity had their land taken away. They were promised a better life, but today, they walk 15 km barefoot on scorching land every day just to fetch water. @narendramodi, is this what you call a ‘New India’?

The debate on the Waqf Amendment Bill continued as the opposition participated to demonstrate their support for Muslims in parliament. In contrast, during other discussions, such as on Manipur, disruptions often occurred, or members simply walked out, either because they had no counterarguments or felt the issues did not affect their vote banks.

Salutations to parliament whose members sat till 3 am to debate the Wakf bill with the quality of debate in Rajya Sabha truly top class . But it begs the question: if parliament can debate the Wakf bill for so many hours, why no discussions allowed on many other key issues: from education policy to electoral rolls to China policy to Manipur (debated only for an hour at 2 am). Parliament must restore its primacy as a forum for debate and not become a notice board for only what the govt wants to discuss. Chairs in particular must be firmly neutral and not bat for one side. Agree?
