@evanhamilton It would be interesting to combine this with search analytics within the community - what are people searching for and finding/not finding? Then how does that turn into conversation/content?

It's odd that we got a sudden onslaught of "community listening" tools all aimed at understanding who your top users were across channels. To me it feels like a bit more of a parlor trick than a core functionality. These tools will succeed if they can either:

@sariazout NPRs's been doing a mix of crowdfunding and grants since before those words existed. Wikipedia is unique, but maybe there is room for a similar model for expansive thought rather than descriptive.

i love substack but it makes me uncomfortable to settle for a business model that discourages the multiplication of the world's best ideas what are the most interesting examples of media business models outside of paywalls and ads?
