Paul Fischer finishes the regular season with a brilliant game against OSU. 1-1-2 scoring with one second in the game. If @Bob_Stauffer would have given me five more minutes yesterday, I would have said he’s done all he can in college and the Oilers should sign him asap.

According to Frank Seravalli, at some point this week, Isaac Howard’s camp thought he was an Oiler and the Oilers thought the deal was done. But, it still hasn’t come to fruition. The Oilers offer was a late 1st rounder. It seems like they haven’t given up on him.

Edm concludes their draft. I'm very shocked in their performance. Pick rankings Lafreniere: B- Lewandowski: C+ Barnett: C Salonen: A+ Park: C Edm drafted 5 players who have many fassets to each of their game that is already translatable at the NHL level. Each needs a fair bit of time if they want to make the NHL but I especially like the chances for 3 of these players which is much more than I thought i would say. Looks like Bowman’s justification for the Frederic contract are that he’s a unique player (can play all three forward positions, has a good mix of grit/skill) and a similar forward of that archetype isn’t available in the market

Absolutely LOVE that selection by the Habs. Alexander Zharovsky is incredibly fun. Super flashy, great against pressure already. Put some pounds on him, and he could be a lethal scorer.

@bcurlock Didn’t the Oilers hire a guy from the USHL for that role last summer?

Not that anyone asked but I think if Sam Gagner wanted the role he just got, but in Edmonton, the Oilers were smart to pass. NHL people in those roles that I think highly of took years to learn the craft starting as scouts, skills coaches or HCs of junior teams. Wish him well.

Barrie wins and moves on the to the OHL semi-finals. Wakely ended up 0-3-3 with 4 shots on net. Beau Akey really struggled in this series. Got pushed around a fair bit and didn’t play with much confidence on the puck and off.
