The highly uneducated trope that the English conquered and subjugated Scotland, Wales and NI is irritating. We’re a United Kingdom precisely because the Welsh and Scottish were undefeatable and we were all tired of fighting. NI is composed of descendants of Protestant Scotch and English who actively chose to remain part of England. I propose we devolve back into our separate countries and go back to warring with each other.

Ireland never has and never will recognise the term "British Isles" btw, as per the actual government.
It's literally strictly an English/ American term, so stop using it in relation to Ireland.

Correct. The Irish are the ones who have a problem with the British Isles as a name for the region. The rest of the world doesn't and will, unfortunately for the Irish, still refer to it as the British Isles, Britse Eilanden, Britische Inseln, Wyspy Brytyjskie, Insulele Britanice or whatever linguistic variation is used. Wanting it changed on a global level is admirable, but I doubt we see such a widespread change in our lifetime.

The archipelago of the "British Isles" comprises over 6,000 islands including what is now called Ireland. The Ancient Greeks called it "Mikra Brettania" meaning "Little Britain."
