@taste_of_tbone I think a lot of attendees might be upset about sitting in the stadium with a corpse in an advanced state of decomposition if he went to an NBA game today

Well, this sells me on the argument. Though I wonder if he could sit courtside today and it wouldn’t be an issue; whether American relationship to celebrity has changed (“relatability”). By the NBA metric the Coreys might be bigger celebrities than Timothee Chalamet.

Yes. He’s the most famous entertainer in history. All of the entertainers you mentioned can sit courtside at a NBA game. Michael Jackson could not. @MagicJohnson told the story of how he invited MJ to a Lakers game and it created so much chaos, they had to stop the game. MJ had to leave because fans were leaving their seats to try to get to him. None of the people you mentioned have that level of fame where they can’t attend public events.

The judge just instructed Elon Musk that he is no longer allowed to discuss extinction events on the stand. "It's not the point of the case," she said. "They got it. That's enough." So I guess we've heard our last Terminator robot army reference of the day.

The think tanker cliche is now “tactical success, strategic failure” but it seems like the U.S. just straight up did not achieve a lot of its tactical goals with Iran’s missiles.

I don’t want to take away the fun but alas we’ve got to add one in the “Drew Faust was right about not teaching cursive destroying our ability to engage with history” column

@MattZeitlin I have considered the first point in-depth and come to the conclusion that the message glam metal bands were trying to put out by dressing like women was “I am so busy fucking ladies that I can’t even bother to buy my own clothes, so I have to wear my girlfriend’s clothes.”

i'm sure someone has put this take out there but couldn't one argue (not me, but someone) that hair metal encouraged and enabled lots of playful gender nonconformity and that grunge was a reactionary heteronormative backlash (all those flannels and combat boots! so butch!)

@gothgfdotrip Marx was taking money from a capitalist so he could write his books. Boots is taking money from capitalists so he can get his films made. You’re moralising one situation but not the other.

Have no opinion on the whole “wearing a bands merch to their show” debate but it 100% rocks when a guy buys a shirt at the table and then puts it on over his other shirt

@harrisongordo13 Just thought about this recently, how we feel about wearing merch for THE VENUE we’re at?
