SNYDER: Politicians like Trump and Putin obsessed with the past. But with version of the past that never happened. Trump and Putin like to say that in the past everything was good. But then somebody came, immigrants or Ukrainians, and took it all away. It's always same story, and that's not history. Putin is always sure what happened. It's not about evidence, it's about feeling good, it's about defining an enemy. That's why Trump and Putin hate history, in my sense of the word. They don't want historians around. They don't want history taught in schools. What they do is, and Trump does this too, they turn history instruction into moral play about how we're good and other people are bad.

Meanwhile, Trump's business partners courageously keep going to Moscow.

So Trump’s ambassador to Canada actively promoted an app built by a Michigan MAGA group called 10xVotes. That same app is now at the centre of one of the biggest privacy scandals in Canadian history. The Centurion Project, Alberta’s separatist group, used it to scrape personal data on nearly 3 MILLION Albertan voters. Now Elections Alberta, the Privacy Commissioner, and the RCMP are all investigating. Hoekstra says he “wasn’t aware” of the connection. But the guy running the Centurion Project said publicly, on a podcast, that 10xVotes has been advising him behind the scenes for over a year. Hoekstra personally knows the app’s founder. So the US ambassador to Canada promoted a voter ID tool, that tool ended up in the hands of a group trying to break up Canada, and that group illegally obtained private data on millions of Canadians. This isn’t a conspiracy theory. It’s confirmed by PressProgress, CBC, and Elections Alberta’s own investigation. Foreign interference in Canadian democracy!!

This young couple from Kherson had their whole life ahead of them. Yesterday, a russian artillery strike killed 22-year-old Yelyzaveta. Her husband Ihor survived — but lost both legs. He is now fighting for his life in intensive care. Their child is not even 3 years old. And while Ihor lies in a hospital bed, his mother is fighting cancer. One russian shell destroyed an entire family. This is russian terror.

They betrayed those in Afghanistan who trusted them. They betrayed Ukraine by withdrawing support, even though they had guaranteed the inviolability of its borders. They betrayed Denmark, their longtime ally, by demanding Greenland from them. They betrayed Taiwan by calling it “a small and distant island” while in China, increasing the risk of a Chinese attack. Now they are withdrawing their troops from Romania and Poland, leaving Eastern Europe on its own. We will manage on our own, because for centuries we have known one thing: if you want to rely on something, rely on yourself. But these betrayals will forever strip the United States of its role as a superpower. What kind of superpower does not keep its word? In our part of the world, a new superpower must rise to take America’s place: Europe.

Neither Obama nor Biden traded stocks or bonds while in office. 3,700 trades is probably more than all the trades of all the presidents until now. And he is trading stocks that are affected by his decisions. A walking conflict of interest, at the least, and perhaps insider trading. The man lost his wife, children, and other family members during the war in Gaza. He argues that if Hamas had not committed war crimes against Palestinians, particularly the crime of using civilians as human shields, his family and countless other Gazans would still be alive. War crimes and crimes against humanity listed in the submission include using civilians as human shields, attacking civilians, causing great suffering, destruction of property, excessive incidental death, injury, or damage, conscripting children, murder, extermination, torture, persecution, and more. The Hamas leaders named in the submission are Izz al-Din al-Haddad, Khaled Mashaal, Mahmoud al-Zahar, Mohammed Odeh, Muhannad Rajab, Khalil al-Hayya, Mousa Abu Marzook, Ghazi Hamad, Izzat al-Rishq, Fathi Hamad, Nizar Awadallah, Husam Badran, Zaher Jabarin, and Basem Naim. For decades, innocent Palestinians have paid the price for Hamas's genocidal war against Israel. They deserve justice.
