With High Point out, the only chance for a non-power conference team to make the Sweet Sixteen is Utah State. Which has to beat Zona to get there. It's not a fluke. The Sweet 16 was 16 power conference teams last year. Still love the tourney, but it's losing a lot of its charm.

College Football will be organized into 9 Power Conferences (and 3 ind.), each of which will have 8 permanent members.
Each conference will have 2 flex spots, which any given season will be filled by 2 teams promoted from the "feeder leagues" based on a rolling 2 or 3 year criteria.

COACHING HOT BOARD:
1. Dan Hurley: has stated that K-State is the most prestigious job in the country, is he ready to make that jump to the big leagues?
2. TJ Otzelberger: not the best tournament resume but has done a good job at a mid major program. Could have promising potential with top level resources. Would finally be able to afford proper fitting polos.
3. Bill Self: over the hill a bit but still some gas left in the tank. 20+ years of experience with paying players makes him a prime candidate to succeed in the NIL era. Has been quoted saying “it’s a great day to be a Wildcat”. Something to watch.

At my school, the "smart" kids were also popular and on varsity sports teams. The captain of the football team was a straight-A student and attended MIT after graduation. The worst students are totally disengaged and don't do sports. This 80's movie trope is wrong.
