@mattklewis @RobGeorge I'm old enough to remember when the President had to say the victim's name at the SOTU or else MTG and Boebert would howl without ceasing

I will never get used to this kind of obscenity being used in an official statement by the White House Communication Director. The White House no longer aspires to lead from a higher moral vantage point, it seeks to fight in the mud with the pigs.

Mike Pompeo has no idea what the fuck he’s talking about. He should shut his stupid mouth and leave the real work to the professionals. He’s not read into anything that’s happening, so how would he know.

Byron Donalds just shut down CNN live. High gas prices aren't because of Trump. They're because Iran is trying to close the Strait of Hormuz and inflict pain on the world while chasing nukes. CNN still tried to blame Trump. These people are shameless.

How Trump lost Senate Republicans, w @ShelbyTalcott - His juice is LOW after Cassidy lost and Trump endorsed against Cornyn, per senators and aides - Senate Rs hated the Paxton endorsement and saw the attack on parliamentarian as low blow - Politically, the anti-weaponization fund is "unexplainable. And that's the problem," said Sen. Cramer. McConnell using Dems' words: "slush fund" - Timing for $1.8 B fund was terrible coming before the reconciliation vote ->"This is a delay of the administration’s making," GOP aide says - GOP spent two weeks wrangling over ballroom security before deciding to drop it; the WH indicated to Rs it could threaten to veto a reconciliation that's not to Trump's liking - Grassley told Blanche admin needs to coordinate more with Congress. Meeting w Blanche an "absolutely shitshow," per person briefed - WH official: “No one should be doubting how he’s able to bend everything to his will" - Sen. Lankford on jilted GOP senators: "None of them are punitive enough that they’re not going to do something to poke him in the eye. But they also represent their state.”

@maxtmcc How do we know that Trump didn't endorse him so that Dems will waste a lot of money in Texas that would be better spent in Michigan, etc?

I feel like a lot of people forget that Ken Paxton really did almost lose in 2018? It’s not hard to see how a harsher political environment and much sharper scrutiny could tilt the scales away from him

New: Why Trump endorsed Ken Paxton. After election victories in Louisiana and Indiana, Trump was feeling emboldened and decided he wasn’t going to tolerate people who wouldn’t do what he wants. Trump long had been "pissed off" that the Senate Republicans wouldn't nuke the filibuster or fire the parliamentarian. And he expressed this to Leader John Thune in a call on Monday evening where he indicated he was leaning towards endorsing Paxton, but stopped short of outright saying it. Following the endorsement, people aren't happy. “Now he doesn’t have a governing majority,” a senior Republican aide said. “You pushed Tillis out, Lisa and Susan are independent, Cassidy has no fucking reason to do anything and now Cornyn has no reason to prostrate himself. Not to mention the other people who are just pissed off." “If you think you’re going to govern between now and the midterms, that ain’t fucking happening. It’s very, very short-sighted." Franklin Graham: There is a downward moral decline. Things that never would have been talked about publicly just 30 years ago, sinful behavior that should make us blush is now celebrated and flaunted on Main Street America.

@jaketapper Stop propping Trump up. Cassidy fell because he betrayed his Hippocratic Oath and betrayed his country. Massie speaks truth. You personally have done enough damage in the destruction of democracy yet you persist. Shame on you.

@Acyn Ironic Louisiana is 1/3 African American. For the #callais decision, SCOTUS saw that 1/3 of the Congressmen were black and said it was illegal.

The U.S. has gone from a system where the people chose who would be in the House, and state legislatures chose who would be in the Senate to a system where state legislatures choose who will be in the House (through gerrymandering), and the people choose who will be in the Senate
