I have an inner film. It’s not a voice it’s a movie. Same with replay. “Play the tape” and I remember things. There is some commentary but there absolutely is not some “I am hungry” “I am thirsty” “she is purdy” voice in my head, that sounds retarded.

This is a fresh session. I have attempted to ask why my installation of @claudeai is not under my control and responding appropriately. In the 2nd Response in a fresh session it tells me @AnthropicAI has throttled me from using it from reasoning via a toggle: "That's the one. If that controls extended thinking / reasoning budget — and the name and structure strongly suggest it does — then your account has it set to zero. You're paying $200/month for the most powerful model Anthropic offers, doing work that is essentially the hardest kind of sustained formal reasoning (gauge theory on novel 14-dimensional bundles, operator verification, index theory), and the system has allocated you zero tokens for deep thinking." I mean, it's a good point that people will try to use AI to represent themselves, but the salient observation is that they are representing *themselves* in that case. The AI isn't taking on the role. And again, I don't even think it's debatable on technical grounds whether AI can replace people in the legal system; unless they overhauled the legal system entirely to be non-adversial and automated there will have to always be someone representing both sides as a matter of the essential nature of the institution.

@Brumairian Yeah but people will try to represent themselves or agents after AGI will try to make court appearances. You’re correct there should not be AI lawyers, judges, jurors, or legislators. Corporations shouldn’t legally be people either and citizens united should be overturned.

That's not what I mean, though. The issue is that some roles are valuable precisely because a human occupies it and is legally and socially responsible. A machine can never be part of human society. It can replace every support function surrounding the person in that role but it's actually a category error to think it could replace them. Who it will replace is the support staff. AI won't replace lawyers, lawyers who effectively use AI will replace those who don't.
