Not that this should shock anyone but even though there was early buzz (around early July) that the Spurs had spoken to Rich Paul about San Antonio as a potential landing spot for LeBron, more league sources (including Marc Stein) indicate that the Spurs are not expected to pursue him seriously. LeBron continues to appear more focused on Eastern Conference options anyway.

@SebutiMatsome We beat every team except the Knicks; they just matched up well. These Spurs are the same as last year, but different! 💪💪💪

The best thing Spurs did this offseason... Wasn't signing Tobias. Wasn't drafting Harper. It was sending one message to the entire league. **"We're done being easy to play against."** 😤🏀 Last season, teams knew exactly how to beat us. Be more physical. Crash the glass. Force Wemby to do everything. Wait for us to wear down in the fourth quarter. That blueprint got us. This offseason? Spurs tore that blueprint apart. Now you've got veterans who embrace contact. Rookies who love defending. More size. More rebounding. More ball handlers. More depth. Notice something rlvery move attacked a weakness, not an ego. That's what winning organizations do. The league is still judging San Antonio by last season's mistakes I'm judging them by how they responded to them. That's why I think people are sleeping on this team Spurs didn't just add players they changed their identity.

OG Anunoby/Mitchell Robinson, Towns all pushed around the Spurs for 5 games in Finals. That alone should be a f'n glaring black hole to the Spurs GM. Just cause u got to the Finals there are never any guarantees u will ever get back.

Dean Wade is a better basketball player than Rui Hachimura and his projected AAV should be around 9-11 min a most. Full MLE to a non defensive non rebounding limited spot up shooter would be insanely poor mismanagement. People are just looking at the shooting when that wasn’t even the biggest issue these playoffs.

Spurs need a big 4 DEFENSIVELY and I’m not entirely sure Hachimura or Collins actually fills that need

The Spurs will be looking at the same team going into next season, with a few exceptions. Starters: Wemby, Julian, Vassell, Castle, Fox/Harper Bench: Fox/Harper, Keldon, Kornet, Bryant Where do Rui/Shamet crack the minutes? Whose role do they take?
Ryan@twominutedrives

@ByStephenM Ideally the spurs would run a 10 man rotation. Fox, Harper, castle, Devin, Julian, wemby, kornet, Bryant, shamet, rui. We have 8 rotational guys adding them would give us 10.

Look, postseason defense hits different, and these stats don't lie: Worst Catch & Shoot 3PT% in the 2025-26 NBA Playoffs (Min. 30 C&S 3PA): 1. De’Aaron Fox — 20.8% 2. Victor Wembanyama — 29.5% 3. Dylan Harper — 30.8% If you need a clear look at why the Spurs' front office should be fixated on adding pure perimeter spacing and shooting depth this summer, this is the entire blueprint right here. Year 2 of the Fox/Wemby pairing needs breathing room. Julian Champagne gives you some of that but you can't help but wish he had something he hasn't shown yet which is consistency. He wants a raise and may well deserve one, but he's gotta bring consistency and that's not something his feet have been held to the fire on. In fact, the Spurs have always told him to just keep shooting. We all saw how that worked out with a 29 point lead in the finals. Will that be enough going forward?

Best Catch & Shoot (C&S) 3PT% In The 2025-26 NBA Playoffs (Min. 30 C&S 3PA) : 1. Rui Hachimura — 59.3% 2. Landry Shamet — 51.1% 3. Nickeil Alexander-Walker — 50.0% 4. Alex Caruso — 49.2% 5. Cade Cunningham — 48.8% 6. Cason Wallace — 48.3% 7. OG Anunoby — 47.4% 8. Karl-Anthony Towns — 46.9% 9. Duncan Robinson — 45.9% 10. Jalen Brunson — 44.4%

Rockets reporter @KellyIko says Houston is open to trade offers for Kevin Durant and Alperen Şengün. Amen Thompson is reportedly the only near-untouchable player on the roster. Texas rivals potentially blowing it up? This could shake up the whole Southwest Division. Thoughts?

If Trey Murphy is truly available, the Spurs should be making calls. I wrote about a scenario where San Antonio uses its first-round pick, mountain of second-rounders and more to help New Orleans get back into Round 1 and lands a near-perfect fit next to Wemby. 👀 #PorVida

A new report has front offices across the league on high alert and Dusty Garza @SpursReporter has an idea how San Antonio might be able to take advantage. dunkdigest.com/the-trey-murph…

Here’s what I gathered from this season: If the Thunder would’ve been functionally healthy, no one was going to beat them in a 7-game series. And every team knows it.

The Spurs are emerging as a potential third team for Jaylen Brown in Giannis Antetokounmpo trade talks, with a deal that would send the No. 20 pick to Milwaukee with multiple future picks, per @GrantAfseth
