@Sell_the_Bridge @TheOmniLiberal Why stop there? you could say trump wouldn't even exist as the world would be so different.
English

@TheOmniLiberal Destiny, you’re smarter than this. Do you really think Trump runs the same 2016 campaign if it’s popular vote wins?
English

Probably not, because he would have gotten discouraged and quit after losing the first election by 3,000,000 votes to Hillary Clinton. :)
Frank Luntz@FrankLuntz
If we did this, the President of the United States would currently be Donald Trump.

@ChromatixTTV @exarkunaguero @kaizen000000000 >"debate tactic"

why are normies like that?

@justsayin85640 @MarcoFoster_ @joerogan yay rightwingers are arguing for criminalizing hatespeech now
English

@MarcoFoster_ @joerogan Rather surprising but Joe might be missing the point.
Killing someone is a way of getting rid of them.
That kinda crap inspires nut bars, wingnuts and kooks to carry out what the message suggests.

@kid_riles If Kamala had got in she would have had boots on the ground day two and would be sending our troops into a meat grinder and you stupid fucks would have called her brave and a great leader.

@BenHamilton1776 @TheOmniLiberal Your mom is part of the problem, actually
English

@TheOmniLiberal Destiny is one of the most morally pretentious frauds in our society.
The audacity for a guy like this who spews poison to lecture the public on morality.
People like Destiny are part of the problem.
English

@niffirg_x @alrakad_M Could you please elaborate which war crime is committed on the video? It's a shame you won't

@klaptenning @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ Blue cannon be a do nothing option because it is the only button that is able to perform change on you in this hypothetical. Red button isn't able to in any scenario no matter what happens. If you press red you are unchanged.
English

@omnipilled @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ Nope. That’s a false framing of the problem. Blue is the “do nothing” option. If everyone votes blue nothing happens. Let’s say this is an election between two candidates. One candidate, if he wins, wipes out those who didn’t vote for him. Other, if he wins, lets everyone live.
English

@RavindraDev0 @Devon_Eriksen_ But if you press red nothing in your life changes. The only possibility of change comes from the blue button. Red button is not able to perform change on you. Blue button is. Therefore I say that red is on by default.
English

@omnipilled @Devon_Eriksen_ clearly on the original scenario we have to make a decision to pick what button, instead of "do you want to swtich to blue button"
no one know for SURE what other people would choose while in this, everyone know that all currently has red turn on, and has option to swtich
English

@klaptenning @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ I agree that the "final count did everything". But the count was between people who decided to opt into this cruel experiment (blue) and those who didn't (red).
So let me rephrase that: voting red is not "doing nothing". It is voting for "doing nothing".
English

@omnipilled @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ When you invent it is real and when I invent it is hypothetical! Both are mutations of the original problem.
Blue button also did nothing. It’s the final count that did everything and there both red votes and blue votes are counted. Are genuinely unable to see this?
English

@klaptenning @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ You just invented a new hypothetical. In the new hypothetical I agree there is a difference between pressing a red button and doing nothing. In the original hypothetical there was no such difference. Red button did nothing.
English

@omnipilled @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ You cannot think of a difference between doing nothing and doing something?
Ok, let’s say there was a red button and if more than 50% press it, everyone who hasn’t pressed it dies. If majority do nothing everybody survives.
By your reasoning, they should be the same problem?
English

@deerleisure @steady_drumbeat Red button is the same as inaction. You don't participate in the blue button scenario. Exact 1 to 1 comparison.
English

@steady_drumbeat These are clearly different scenarios though. One is action vs inaction, which is a huge difference between a forced choice of two different actions.
Just like. Nobody needs to throw themselves into a woodchipper.
In the other scenario, everybody gotta press a button.
English

Great example of where abstract game theory breaks down. Normal people will push blue, normal people won’t jump into a wood chipper!

Ariel@redtachyon
Every human stands in front of a massive woodchipper. You can either jump into the woodchipper or not. The woodchipper has a design flaw - if more than 50% of humanity jumps in, it will break and everyone survives. If less than 50% do it, those people will die. What do you do?
English

@klaptenning @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ Imagine two hypotheticals. 1) The original one with two buttons and 2) the other one with a blue button and a "do nothing" option.
What is the difference between these two scenarios? I genuinely can't think of a single difference
English

@omnipilled @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ There is no “do nothing” choice. Otherwise the problem would have offered you a blue button and an option to push it or not. Both buttons record your votes. The outcome depends on the final count. You cannot simply reframe the problem any way you please.
English

@klaptenning @BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ Red button is literally the do nothing choice. What does red button do in your mind? You just go on with your life as if nothing happened. The same as not taking the pill.
English

@BenDempsey18 @airleygames @Devon_Eriksen_ No, in the original problem there’s no “do nothing” choice.
English

@RavindraDev0 @Devon_Eriksen_ What do you mean. Rn irl we all live while NOT participating in the blue button gamble. The red button is on by default. It is the same scenario.
English

@Devon_Eriksen_ an equivalent of this to original scenario would be, everyone has a red button turned on ( known info that all people default to red button ), if u swtich to turn on the blue button, the yada yada the rest follow, not the same scenario
English

@omnipilled @RealKevinMoen @TheDemocrats Not surprising you would want to do that. You got Charlie Kirk already, and would kill me, given the opportunity.
English

@KingsFrmO @freddy_berman @AlastairGrayson @IterIntellectus It is immoral to endanger your life in such a reckless manner by pressing blue. Because you are banking on other people saving your life while risking their own. Nobody should ever do it. It is immoral and unethical.
English

why would anyone even press blue?!?

Tim Urban@waitbutwhy
Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?
English
