New Ontario poll: The PCs have regained some ground as the fallout from the private jet controversy fades. PCs: 41% (+3) Liberals: 31% (-4) NDP: 17% But the environment still favours change: • 70% want a change in government • Only 32% think Ontario is on the right track • Doug Ford remains net negative personally The controversy may be fading. The desire for change hasn’t. abacusdata.ca/ontario-pcs-re…

Mark Carney's approval rating as Prime Minister has hit a new record high. *Almost 70% of Canadians approve of his job performance.* I can't think of any PM or any govt who was this popular in all of Canadian history. Canadians are very united right now. If you think this poll is whacky, guess again: Abacus confirmed very similar results this week too. It's real.

A decade-high 47% of Canadians now think the country is headed in the right direction. In this new long read, I explore why Canadians are becoming more optimistic about Canada while remaining anxious about the world — and how that shift could change politics, advocacy, and persuasion. Why optimism changes how people listen, judge risk, and respond to leadership: open.substack.com/pub/davidcolet…

Liaisons has the Liberals at 43% and CPC at 31% Carney's approval at 59%, very much in line with Abacus Like I'm genuinely asking: what's the plan for the Conservatives? Just waiting for Carney to become unpopular? I'm not even saying I know what the CPC should do. But the situation seems just... Really bad? Canadian voters have just decided that they loved Carney and I'm not sure there is anything the CPC can do about it

The mood inside Canada and the mood about the world are moving in opposite directions. 🇨🇦 47% say Canada is headed in the right direction 🌎 76% say the world is on the wrong track 🇺🇸 80% say the U.S. is on the wrong track That gap has widened sharply since Trump returned and Carney became PM. Today, Mark Carney’s government is more popular than when it was elected. 59% approve. 47% would vote Liberal. 47% say Canada is headed in the right direction — the best number in over 8 years. The opinion environment remains remarkably favourable for the government. abacusdata.ca/canadian-polit…

One of the most important findings in our latest federal poll: The Liberals now lead among voters most concerned about the cost of living. That issue powered Conservative momentum for years. Today, Canadians increasingly blame Trump and global instability — not the federal government — for economic pressures. Full analysis: abacusdata.ca/canadian-polit…

@DavidColetto This methodology isn’t truly random and introduces selection bias. Participants come from opt-in online panels, so they’re already more likely to take surveys and may not reflect the broader population. The “random” selection only applies within this preselected group

New Abacus Data polling: • 59% approve of the Carney government — a new high • Liberals lead by 12 nationally • Carney’s personal ratings are at their strongest yet • Optimism about Canada is at its highest level in more than 8 years The big story? Canadians increasingly see Trump and global instability — not Ottawa — as the source of economic anxiety. More here: abacusdata.ca/canadian-polit…

Poilievre is furious today. Now I know why. Ex Conservative Opposition leader Erin O'Toole, plus Conservative Jean Charest is part of the Canada and U.S committee have crossed over to handle the negotiations. Poilievre is frothing at the mouth.

Economic Benefits Model. Spending taxpayer money on infrastructure—like roads, bridges, ports, and high-speed internet—supercharges the economy. It makes businesses more efficient, draws in private investors, widens the tax base, and pumps up future government revenue through faster GDP growth, bigger corporate profits, fatter paychecks, and more consumer spending. In plain terms, every dollar spent often returns more than a dollar in economic benefits (a multiplier greater than 1), and the long-term payoff beats the cost of borrowing the cash.

As a former banker and self proclaimed economic expert, Carney sure is getting the basics wrong. When the government spends, it’s still spending even if he calls it “investing.” Saying the two are different means he either doesn’t know what he’s talking about, or worse, he’s trying to trick Canadians.
