Now I have to repeat myself. I’m not saying nonprofits are going to replace 50% of school funding, that’s not realistic. Go back to my post where I said 20 to 30% of the budget is waste and you need to cut that. The redundant social services probably make up 10 to 20% of a school‘s budget. What I’m saying is schools have taken on a lot of roles beyond core education, and some of those are already handled by outside organizations in most communities. Things like: - Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA for after-school programs - Local food banks and church networks for meals - Community mental health providers and nonprofits for counseling - Tutoring organizations and literacy nonprofits Those already exist. The question is whether schools need to own and fund all of it internally, or coordinate with existing groups more efficiently. And on audits, if you can’t find 10–15% inefficiency in a system this large before asking for more money, that’s a bigger problem than the cost of an audit.

I literally wrote a four paragraph post about cost cutting strategies. It was pretty much a basic plan. What expectations do you have for me on Twitter?
