The HoldCo model isn’t going away. But it is evolving—fast. The winners won’t look like agencies. They’ll look like operating systems for modern marketing. Full breakdown here: signalandnoise.ai/post/from-hold… /end

The agency model isn’t dying. It’s being rewritten. From HoldCos → Operating Systems. Most people in AdTech are still missing what’s actually happening. 1/

@JIMMYEDGAR Memories - they o my had memories too). Also if you wanted to go further you could argue we die every moment and only exist in the now via quantum mechanics. There is no singular self structure anywhere - it’s a probabalistic nonlinear ephemeral mess network of identity.

@JIMMYEDGAR I like it and I generally agree with the proposition. The prose could be a bit stronger around the person the day before also being only a single day person (e.g - you wake up thinking you love someone but that’s because a person who died did love someone and you have their mem.

@philiprosedale Not fun, not useful. There are already well populated social worlds, many of them and have been for years. Think world of Warcraft, second life, Roblox, Fortnite, etc. The internet itself is arguably a social virtual world - Meta’s version just sucked as bad as VRML.

Not even Meta, with tens of billions of software and hardware investment over the last decade, has been able to make social virtual worlds successful. What would you give as reason(s) why?

@zebriez I think your awareness of the other person ‘getting it’ is probably called rapport but their state of ‘getting it’ is called grok (to understand in fullness).

I'm looking for a word for "get it-ness." Something to describe that sense you get of a person that "gets it." Usually immediately apparent. contenders that are close but not quite it: awake. in the details/close to the metal. high-agency.

Naming tech startups after Lord of the Rings is a thing, there's a still a few good ones up for grabs. Someone should use these... Taken: - Palantir - Anduril - Durin - Mithril Available: - Gandalf - Galadriel - Elrond - Lindir - Aragorn - Rohan - Shire? Just thinking out loud here. Bonus points if you add "Labs" to the name

I don't care how well a game is received, if it uses genAI, it's a flat 0 and dead to me. Props to Eurogamer for standing against normalizing anti-creative business practice. Support real artists and work.
Eurogamer@eurogamer

For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore. Our review: bit.ly/49bVn01

Perplexity just quietly dropped a 42-page internal guide on how they actually use AI at work. What I found most useful: → How they automate the small stuff. Email, meeting prep, research (all done by AI) → Using AI to amplify your curiosity, not replace it. → Their prompting playbook is simple, practical, and genuinely good. Comment “AI” and I’ll send it to you for free.
