The HoldCo model isn’t going away.
But it is evolving—fast.
The winners won’t look like agencies.
They’ll look like operating systems for modern marketing.

@MarathonTheGame pretty fun game but also kind of buggy - I look forward to less crashes and more maps

@JIMMYEDGAR Memories - they o my had memories too). Also if you wanted to go further you could argue we die every moment and only exist in the now via quantum mechanics. There is no singular self structure anywhere - it’s a probabalistic nonlinear ephemeral mess network of identity.
English

@JIMMYEDGAR I like it and I generally agree with the proposition. The prose could be a bit stronger around the person the day before also being only a single day person (e.g - you wake up thinking you love someone but that’s because a person who died did love someone and you have their mem.

@philiprosedale Not fun, not useful. There are already well populated social worlds, many of them and have been for years. Think world of Warcraft, second life, Roblox, Fortnite, etc. The internet itself is arguably a social virtual world - Meta’s version just sucked as bad as VRML.

@annbordetsky I think the real source for LOTR names is the Silmarilion where we have such winners as Illuvatar and Melkor. Labs.

Naming tech startups after Lord of the Rings is a thing, there's a still a few good ones up for grabs. Someone should use these...
Taken:
- Palantir
- Anduril
- Durin
- Mithril
Available:
- Gandalf
- Galadriel
- Elrond
- Lindir
- Aragorn
- Rohan
- Shire?
Just thinking out loud here. Bonus points if you add "Labs" to the name

@bryan_johnson That time and space are an illusion imagined by a geometrically unfolding singularity at the event horizon of nothingness.

@douglauretano @jhlava @UpsidePizza Every one of these posts makes me want midtown pizza so very bad. Also good convos but mostly the pizza.
English

Not even NYCs 1st real cold can keep @jhlava & me away from pizza & great convo. I first met JH in front of a whiteboard talking header bidding (they call that a "meet cute") & we've been close for 12 yrs since. Go have #adtechpizza & tag me - u won't be sorry #adtechtwitterIRL

@kitty_bit_games Big deal - there’s very little canned voices and any serious player is using a mic with team and proximity voice chat.

I don't care how well a game is received, if it uses genAI, it's a flat 0 and dead to me.
Props to Eurogamer for standing against normalizing anti-creative business practice.
Support real artists and work.

For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore. Our review: bit.ly/49bVn01
English

I play video games. Maybe a lot of them. Maybe more than I should. But I’d like to say that Arc Raiders is an excellent manifestation of an extraction shooter game. Great art style, great gameplay loop, smooth performance, beautiful and meaningful environment. @ARCRaidersGame

Perplexity just quietly dropped a 42-page internal guide on how they actually use AI at work.
What I found most useful:
→ How they automate the small stuff. Email, meeting prep, research (all done by AI)
→ Using AI to amplify your curiosity, not replace it.
→ Their prompting playbook is simple, practical, and genuinely good.
Comment “AI” and I’ll send it to you for free.
