Pokemon is a popular game, so to improve Fear & Hunger, I copied a key feature from it: random encounters. The encounter pool is built from the current map. Since Crow Mauler is on almost every map, this means he's always in the encounter pool.

Blacks smell sweet and unctuous, but often about to turn rancid if the sweat has been there all day (different bacteria)
Whites smell mild, musky, deer like, oxidizes more slowly, but gets porky and off putting over time
Chinese smell like dried scallop and salted fish (when they smell, they usually don’t), serotonin overload in sweat is also more (the old person smell) due to higher cortisol levels
