Visualization is crucial when dealing with physical data. Data generated by physical AI is often multi-modal, multi-rate, unique to the task, and incredibly complex. From sensor readings, to multiple camera angles, internal metadata and labels, as well as new data being constantly generated while completing a task: Physical data is just built different. The way we interact with, explore, and understand this data must be too. Think of a multidimensional tensor of pixel values or actually seeing an image directly from a camera. Or the squares highlighting detected objects directly on an image rather that a series of coordinates. An interactive 3D mesh that can be dynamically turned and explored, vs a static projection. Visualizing physical data can be a great challenge due to its unique structure, but is immensely helpful in understanding how the robots or sensors see and interact with the world. Good visualization is essential for working with physical data, and must be available at every stage of the data pipeline. From monitoring ingested data, to checking query results, assessing model performance, or testing real time production workloads: visualization needs to be baked into the process.
