@shagbark_hick If you can make it over another 50 minutes west you get into the mountains. Old fort, black mountain (my town) lots of great small towns. Western NC is the best place I’ve lived in the South, and I’ve lived in GA, VA, TN, TX, middle NC, and spent lots of time in SC, Bama, FL etc

I find myself in Hickory, NC today, after arriving by train to Gastonia well before dawn. Very strange region here -- almost featureless. One drives for miles and sees nothing distinctive at all. It so far feels like Anywhere, USA. What do I need to know about this region?

@JDVance What we saw. It’s not about what happened which could very well have been sheer incompetence as opposed to execution. But it was one or the other. It was definitely not a law abiding citizen intending to massacre anyone. Don’t treat us like we’re idiots

@JDVance I have really liked you and all you stood for JD.But this a huge moment for the future of the Republican Party and whether or not you’re going to lose the respect and votes of a mass of millennials and gen z moderates and conservatives. We’re all intelligent citizens. We saw…

When I visited Minnesota, what the ICE agents wanted more than anything was to work with local law enforcement so that situations on the ground didn't get out of hand. The local leadership in Minnesota has so far refused to answer those requests.

@kashyap286 Pretty sure he meant 13 percent for his total equity, not that he set his stop loss at 13% higher for silver

Regardless of the asset class, this is a poor trade. 13% stop loss on an asset in a parabolic uptrend is ridiculously tight. It is below the 5-day rate of change, which means you are: - calling the top, i.e. making a hero trade - making attempt #1, and will try again until you catch the trend reversal If the latter, the goal is 50% or higher gains. Not 15% in the next few weeks and 30% over the medium term. This was an ego trade, pure and simple.

THE SHORT BEAR@TheShortBear

All out. -13% on Silver, that's it, took it off. Short from mid 93s, out 102s equivalent. Still think overall the trade is valid and data backed, simply did not work and big size did the rest. Prior $GLD and $SLV gains along the way account for 55-60% of this loss, so effectively lost 6.5% across the trades. (or gave back around $SNDK trade equivalent alternatively depending if you want to go by year or by asset class) Historical times, as extended as in 1980, 50y ago, backed by ema extension data, time spent over ema, volume and more. Still no dice. If I had to take it again I'd be a bit smaller to begin and scale better but overall would not do much different. Basically decided to take the hit to make it a big slap rather than something that could change my path and long-term plan. The focus remains latin america and Ethereum and I cant let stubbornness or a martingale stop me from letting these evolve. This is likely lower in a short period but I will say I could also see something different happen. inventories are running low quickly, at 4-5%+ pace each day. China price premium is leading to a massive outflow and I am hearing of big banks like UBS stuck short with major size. As these shorts are covered, retail chases and major nations stockpile, there is a chance we could completely detach and see a quick move into 130+. That is the flip side of this bet and what I want to avoid. We are going into the weekend, over 100$, with a massive volume big green bar, the risk you take on over the weekend is massive if you aren't structured with upside protection. The worst case I see is a sort of 108-112 gap up and spray into 120s+. Likely? Not the likeliest path, but possible and even a 10-20% chance is not worth giving up on the major longer term compounding journey. Again make no mistake, longing here is playing with fire. Data indicating prior instances lead to 30%+ losses over the next mid term period with strong 15%+ losses within weeks. NEXT!

@mattvanswol visit us at St Anthony the Great Orthodox Church in Hendersonville if you want something more than that. I live in Black Mountain and drive almost an hour with my family every Sunday to go. Original and Ancient Christianity is a little (or lot) different than what we have now

We just started going back to church, so I want to say this carefully, because I’m fully aware I could be missing something... …but I’ve been feeling very frustrated with, what I perceive to be, a lack of passion for the truth in the church In a recent sermons, someone said something like, “Hurting people with our words is wrong and we shouldn’t do that.” Not “don’t be unnecessarily cruel…” which I agree with. It’s more like… “don’t make anyone feel bad.” Which is NOT the same thing, and frankly… I don’t know if that’s even possible. And I definitely don’t know if that’s what we should be trying to prioritize right now… people’s FEELINGS, of all things. Because if “hurting someone’s feelings” becomes the standard, then truth is AUTOMATICALLY in trouble. So what is the Christian church actually going for, here? That my responsibility is to protect your emotional comfort… even if it requires me to stay silent while you live a lie? Because I firmly believe the opposite. Lying to someone is wrong, BUT ALSO allowing someone to keep believing a lie is wrong. I guess the point I’m trying to get at here is that I feel like a lot of what gets called “kindness” right now is just fear of conflict, or put another way, I feel like kindness is used as a shield for Christians to be passive. “I’m not perfect, therefore I won’t correct anyone.” “I’m not God, therefore I won’t say anything.” “I might make a mistake, so I’ll stay out of it.” What on earth do you think that creates? It creates a world where nobody with a conscience says anything out loud, a bunch of people walking around confusing their kindness with pure cowardice. Honestly, I just feel alone in the fight. What happens when all the “good” people decide the holiest thing they can do is stay quiet because a pastor is telling them to be terrified to speak up for fear of being called “unloving”? WAKE UP!!!!! The Left is shaping kids right now and THEY ARE NOT SHY ABOUT IT!!! They’re loud and absolutely relentless. They’re also ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE. In the schools, entertainment, social media, sports, corporations, and institutions that used to at least pretend to be neutral. Their messaging is constant, aggressive…AND it’s framed as pure, holy, morality! So… what’s going on with the Christian church these days? Is your highest moral principle really, “no one should ever feel uncomfortable”???? Sorry for the long rant here, I just feel, like I said before, strangely alone in it. As if I’m the problem for believing that truth matters more than feelings… like wanting to speak out against something that is wrong is somehow “unChristian” of me if it gets others angry, upset, or threatening… TOWARDS ME. Maybe I’ve got this wrong and I’m open to hearing it, but in general, I feel alone in this.

Most traders hedge with the wrong instrument. They buy SPX puts when VIX should be traded, and VIX calls when SPX options make more sense. Same risk. Wrong expression. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗫 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 shows how I decide whether risk should be expressed through VIX or through SPX options, how VIX beta shifts by regime, and why volatility products behave very differently depending on what is actually driving risk. VIX is not one signal. It is a bundle of forces. In two short videos, I walk through the decision logic I use to choose the correct hedge instead of defaulting to what feels safe. Comment "VIX" and I’ll send you both videos.

@dieworkwear Depends on which interpretations of Christianity you’re coming from. Only the western forms, and particularly evangelical Protestantism, place emphasis on confession and stated belief as the means of salvation.

Genuine question for theologians: what is the Christian view of whether someone will go to heaven if they say "I accept Jesus as my lord and savior" at the last minute, but also say they don't actually believe in God?

@shagbark_hick Why not just let orthodoxy flourish alongside RC? Plus the dividing line for many in joining one or the other is over the question or a more centralized or decentralized institution. So just adding the eastern elements doesn’t really address that

Many young Americans are getting interested in Eastern Orthodoxy. The Roman Catholic Church should respond by opening up as many Eastern Catholic mission Churches as possible around the USA -- and they should do so immediately. If the youth want the East, give it to them, I say! But give it to them in full Communion with the Bishop of Rome. @IMPERATORAUS @PL_Dav_ As someone who grew up Protestant and became genuinely interested in the history of the true and original church, I found Catholicism far more intriguing in my initial studies, until I realized orthodoxy was even deeper than that…
