@mightydudbolt Allegorically, their relationship represents what Lucas called a conundrum that the Jedi faced in Clone Wars, compromising moral values to save the world they know. Mandalore itself is a microcosm of the Republic, and its fall mirrors fall of the Republic on a planetary scale.

The Satine dynamic was such a good idea because it lets Obi-Wan be the guy who gets to be like, "Good Lord Satine can we just fucking kill him?" Sort of a parallel to pairing Anakin with Ashoka so he gets to be the exasperated master and look more mature.
Duchess of Darksaber Light@DarksaberLight

So interesting when you compare Padme's reaction to Satine's. Padme leans in and comforts Anakin after he admits to slaughtering innocents. Satine makes it clear that she would cut Obi-Wan out of her life if he HAD killed the terrorist who just tried to murder her.

@Wildcard_Dealer I have no interest in arguing with your headcanon. Traviss' "lore" is just fanfiction that Lucas had no hand in whatsoever, much like most of the EU. Clones were programmed as they were made in the lab to be that way, as stated in AOTC and by Lucas personally, and in his show.

@orionproxima You have also not actually meaningfully defended the thesis you're making, beyond "nuh uh, you're making it up." Of all things you bite on, this was it. The post I was quipping about was about how TCW kind of makes the prequels a bit incredulous. I explained how.

"We had another writer who was obsessed with all that stuff, and he'd get very territorial about it and say, 'But in that book!', and George would be like, 'I don't know what that was! The movies - it's what I came up with.'"—Christian Taylor, head writer for The Clone Wars S4-S5
Retney@retneysholocron

I can just imagine a staff writer being like "hey George that idea you pitched for Clone Wars actually contradicts the Darth Bane novels" and George just looks at them like this

@Wildcard_Dealer Lucas's extent of involvement in RC was suggesting they give clones in the game colored armor, because he did it in RotS. That's it. He had no involvement with the RC books whatsoever. You keep making big claims with no proof and sell your headcanon as some kind of real vision™

Besides, if we're using "Rule of Lucas" here, then the Republic Commando games/books had SIGNIFICANT contributions from Lucas as well, so the Republic Commando lore showing the more "elite" clones, by and large, privately found the Jedi to be contemptible. No chip needed.

@Wildcard_Dealer @mobfighter63 You're wrong, indeed. He never said that. Which is why you'll never find a source on that. What Lucas actually said is that clones are programmed. Because they were literally made in a lab to be that way. Which is what we ended up seeing. x.com/orionproxima/s…
Orion@orionproxima

@VK_HM @AgentWofICPO Here's Lucas in 2010 saying that the clones are programmed, and we'll learn how it works later. Filoni saying the same at ForceCast in 2010. It was always the plan, not a cop out or "last minute resort cuz they developed clones too much." That was the story from the start.

@mobfighter63 No easy source on that, it was 20+ years ago and I could be wrong, but even he explained the clones were meant to "follow orders and be loyal to the republic to a fault", not have this weird mind-control device when the fascist autocoup/"Long Knives" is called for.

@JasonSokol3 Star Wars fans didn't understand this scene because SW isn't allowed to have this kind of narrative depth. This isn't a random scene, it's a mental breakdown for Gascon, his character is losing it so instead of having a typical scene crying, the writter put him doing what he -

@mightydudbolt Lucas is a master of crafting stunning, iconic shots that are burned right into your memory. His saga is full of them. There's nothing technically wrong with the shots in the quoted post, they may be nice to look at in the moment, but you'll likely forget about them in a week.

@DakDimensions @SCentralized Exactly. It was all very connected, story arcs converged in one big super-narrative by the end. A lot of that was lost and outright changed in Dark Disciple and Son of Dathomir adaptations, creating weird disconnect and loose threads. Clone Wars must be finished as intended.

@orionproxima @SCentralized Reminds me how Ahsoka was cut from second half of Dark Disciple's novel too. She was originally the one who brought Ventress to the Jedi Temple so she could be pardoned.

Just reread Son of Dathomir and it’s actually insane that a story of this scale is told in a comic and not in Season 7 of The Clone Wars but also it’s so awesome that this forces people to read comics to get an essential TCW storyline, I pray it is never adapted 🙏🙏🙏

@SCentralized As this arc was placed after the first half of Dark Disciple where Vos fell to the Dark Side. SoD completely omitted this. The comic seems to be just the essential broad strokes of the story. So I wouldn't mind if they'd actually make it as intended originally for the screen.

@SCentralized There are reasons to believe this adaptation is not entirely accurate to what it would've been on the screen, similar to Siege of Mandalore flashbacks in Ahsoka novel. From the drawings Filoni did at the story conference with Lucas, Dark Side Vos was supposed to be in this arc +

Not a fan of Pyke redesign in Maul Shadow Lord. They used to be weird aliens with weird proportions. Now they look like regular humans wearing a costume in a Disney+ live action show. At least they still have 3 fingers, unlike Book of Boba Fett where they had 5 cause they're lazy

I really like OG Pykes. Such a unique, interesting design. Mesmerizing, eerie, shady voice. Just so much personality. I like how you can't tell at first if he's just high on spice, trying to bullshit the Jedi, or both. Shady scum and villainy Underworld vibe is impeccable here.

@mightydudbolt It's even funnier they got Jeremy Allen White to play him. And Martin Scorsese plays some monkey fast food salesman. This movie definitely got some absurdly hilarious stuff going for it. I'm almost curious to see these parts, but I just don't care for Mando & Grogu themselves lol

I don't have particularly high hopes for the movie or anything but Jabba the Hutt's son growing up to be a beefcake gladiator is actually really funny. I can't hate this, it's a good joke.

@AlternateUrge @kingterrortank @CEOofPoeDameron Clone Wars was PG (V), Lucas called it PG-13, and said it's the same as the movies, which were all rated PG, with the exception of RotS that is PG-13. It aired at 9 PM on CN, AdultSwim, TNT, and Netflix. It was for everyone. Nothing in Mandalorian justifies TV-14 rating. It's PG.

@kingterrortank @CEOofPoeDameron It's less about that and more the fact that Clone Wars was quite literally a show aimed at kids, on a network for kids. Mandalorian by contrast is family friendly, which is a different and distinct category (rated TV-14 technically)

A thought that’s been bothering me @SamWitwer when Maul had the spider legs made from junk, was he using the force to make them move or did they actually work? I feel like he was using the force all that time to make them work it would’ve added to his insanity.

@mobfighter63 @lucasverse It was originally released on Blu-ray, too. Distributed by Warner Bros. Individual S1-S6, and a few box sets. If you've only seen the show on DVD, I say this without exaggeration - you haven't seen the show. It looks and sounds so good on Blu-ray. blu-ray.com/movies/Star-Wa…

Streaming sucks. Especially D+ with its bit starved video. It's especially egregious in the Maul show. Most of the action scenes turn into compression artifacts galore because there's just not enough bitrate. It actively hurts the show and undermines Lucasfilm Animation's work.
ToonHive@ToonHive

Disney has laid off its entire Home Entertainment team (via @TheWrap). As streaming continues to dominate, physical media like DVDs and Blu-rays are no longer a major focus.

@lucasverse Ah, I see. Yeah, that sucks. Well, at least they re-released them again, so that's something. I doubt we will EVER see The Clone Wars complete box set released again. Original Blu-rays by Warner have been out of print for years, and you can only get them second hand these days.

@orionproxima The listed specs are wrong, they are the 4K versions. The 4K UHD were available everywhere in 2020, but you could only get the Blu-ray of those versions by buying the 4K UHD versions. Internationally they were also released separately on Blu-ray and DVD back in 2020.
