@Stewchat Comparing pure numbers like this is no good if you don't consider the "effort" involved. You may have trapped every day in 2013, and only once in 2023. Use average per trap, you then have much better comparison rate (I'm sure I'm teaching you to suck eggs here though, sorry!)

A brilliant @BritGeoSurvey Birding Group trip out @RutlandWaterNR yesterday where we saw 56 species including the antics of 3 juv Ospreys and their parents, Marsh Harrier and had a great intro by the team at Lyndon Reserve. Many thanks to you all.

The inaugural @BritGeoSurvey Birding Group outing took place today at @RSPBLangford. Hobby, Marsh Harrier and a Barn Owl were highlights along with 4 Common Terns, 5 Common Gulls moving south, Black-tailed Skimmer and Brown Hawker (forgot to take photos of people!)

Any thoughts on this bird call on a bat survey last night? I know what I think it is but it was puzzling to hear at 11pm!

First moth of the year from Friday night, a Chestnut I believe but if anyone wants to tell me it's a Dark Chestnut I'd be pleased. 😉

@BirderAlrewas @Derbyshirebirds @DerbysWildlife After all the hard work and effort that's gone into bringing Beavers into Derbyshire, and making the reserve more accessible (that's what we need by the way- more people interested in nature) it's disappointing to hear you say you don't support what DWT have done.

A very disappointing visit to #willingtongp Hoping for a nice visit. Entrance now looks like a scene from Jurassic Park. Platform 1 was OK but 2 and 3 only views of willow trees. 4 is the hide which is hogged. @Derbyshirebirds @DerbysWildlife Won't be back anytime soon. #sad

Irecord is good, and the only recording route to allow others to find your records. I'd support @DWEmley10 suggestion. Looks like you had a good night too!

Warms the heart. The farmer in this field in Gloucestershire saw curlew chicks in the grass. He stopped mowing and put them in his cab. They are now radio tagged and @WWTSlimbridge curlew team are watching them. Thank you farmer, thank you @KaneBrides @Dan_Gornall & Mike smart.
