Friendly tip: Double-lid your drinks at Maverik. Months ago, Adventure's First Stop created a dilemma by changing the design of their plastic lids. (For weeks, they couldn't properly stock the lids, which was also fun.) The new lids are flimsier and do not seal cups as tightly, and they randomly pop off. If you haven't had the cup fall out of your hands after the lid came off, consider yourself lucky. The good news is that Maverik is saving a bunch of money with the cheaper lids — savings they generously passed along to customers by recently increasing the price of drinks. Back to the subject ... To prevent disaster from happening again, I now use two lids every time I get a drink there. Weird fact: The plastic 7-11 lids fit the Maverik cups like a glove. Anyway, I laughed this morning when I saw two friends use the same double-lid technique at the local Mav. Another fun fact: The chunkier cubed ice is far superior than the trendy pebble ice.
