Can I just go to the court to listen to cases even if I am not related to any of the cases?

Was I the one who disqualified them? Don't you know what it means for the Appeals Committee to hear the appeals of those disqualified? This ignorance is truly galling!

One day I'll tell my story about startup funding in Africa. It's just a syndicate, and it's sad. Sad because those who had the opportunity to receive international funding close the doors on others either by recycling opportunities amongst themselves and getting re-funded by proxy, or triggering investor apathy on competing startups. I'm starting to think it's this melanin 😭

Legal practitioners in Nigeria pay yearly to earn the right to practice their profession. To be able to practice law this year,I have paid nothing less than #20,000 to the Nigerian Bar Association. Studying law in the university wasn't a tea party. My beloved father paid through his nose for 5 years and sold his cars to see me throughout the Nigerian Law School. Today, I still have to pay an annual practicing fee to be able to practice the legal profession. As a lawyer in active private practice,I know how much I spend on subscription to online law reports, papers, repairs of working tools, courses and conferences. The branding and running of my law firm costs a fortune, and being active online to create legal content is expensive. Buying fuel to cars for easy mobility and wearing good attires are very necessary which cost huge money in this economy. That's why I will never agree with anyone who says lawyers are too expensive for the services they render or why should a lawyer collect 10% of the consideration in a property transaction for the preparation of a deed?. Imagine investing a huge amount to learn a skill and having to pay annually to earn and survive with the same skill. Do some clients even know lawyers have dependants and dreams to financ, too? Are they aware that law practice is a business itself and we have invested so much to be called " lawyers"? Are they informed that a lawyer's time and advice are his stock in trade? Do they not know that lawyers' fee are also determined by the economy of the country where they practice? If inflation surges, lawyers' fees skyrocket, too. Of course, this is business, and what happens in business is the exchange of value for value. One thing is sure: Whether now or later, you go pay lawyer!!! We lawyers use consultation fees to determine how serious you are about your case and whether you have the means to pay for our services. A consultation fee also helps to weed out those just searching for free legal advice. Attorneys spend a lot of time, effort, and money to gain their expertise and knowledge, and a good consultation provides the client with valuable information. During consultations, we regularly tell prospective clients our services are not needed if we find that to be the case. Hence, if you want me to take you seriously as a legal professional, come correct. After briefing me, don't ghost me when I commence discussion on professional fees. You can also meet or consult another lawyer if my rate is too high for you; one thing I will never do is overcharge or undercharge my worth. My competence is undeniable and irresistible, and for me to put all my all to solve a client's problem, the client must have furnished a good consideration. Nothing is free, even in Freetown. Rahma cares ✍️ ❤️.

I remember those days when PDP Governors forum was at the height of its powers. They were almost a checkmate to the President. They no longer exist today. Today it’s Progressive Governors forum, time and space will do its job.

We have a problem with our education system as a nation, and Moniepoint and Tosin are not part of it in any way. Don’t be deceived by these Twitter thought leaders. Double up!

This is why no one should be arrested on the orders or influence of @UBAgroup Chair @TonyOElumelu. He is a public figure, and a billionaire content creator and the Nigeria Police Force @policeng has no right to detain anyone on his behalf over expression. Mr. @TonyOElumelu knows very well that it is only in Nigeria that police connections are routinely used to violate citizens’ rights. Across the world, public figures are scrutinized and criticized, sometimes harshly. @elonmusk had his private jet tracked for years by a Florida-based teenager, @jackfsweeney yet no law enforcement agency illegally detained the individual. Public Figures like @BillClinton, @BarackObama , @MichelleObama, and @TonyBlair (who are friends with @TonyOElumelu) are constantly subjected to criticism and unflattering commentary, but no police force would entertain arresting citizens on their behalf for such reasons. Only in Nigeria would a billionaire public figure and I maintain “content creator”attempt to use a compromised police system to detain other content creators for expressing unflattering views. This must be rejected outright, freedom of expression is not a crime. Only in Nigeria! #AACOurParty x.com/dammiedammie35…

I’ve been following this interesting TL conversation for a bit. This is exactly right. You’re spot on about the 3 dimensions of scale. To add, the real test of scale is not the volume of transactions you process. It is about portability of your core engine. Can your model enter a new market without breaking? Can it adapt without needing to be reinvented? Netflix rewrote content + pricing per region on the same core system. Most “high-volume” businesses can’t even leave their home base without breaking. They are tightly coupled to hyperlocal conditions/constraints. For example, DoorDash works at scale in the US because of suburban spread, tipping culture, and restaurant density. In markets without those conditions (like Germany, Japan), the same model struggles to work profitably. A simple test: If each new market increases complexity for your business, you’re expanding. If each new market gets easier, you’re scaling. At true scale, marginal cost trends toward zero. That is why software leads. WeWork looked big until every location started performing like a whole new business. Each new location increased complexity, operationally and financially. McDonald’s scales by removing dependence on the builder. If excellence depends on proximity to the original builder, it’s not a scalable business yet. Unfortunately, transaction volume can disguise this gap for many. That is how you get the inflated valuations we see on these streets until the business model is stress tested and things fall apart. As for the other loud egbon, it’s okay to be humble enough to learn. Social media fame is not a measure of real world experience or knowledge.
