There’s been a lot of fearmongering on here about the looming El Niño. It’s a natural climate oscillation. We go back and forth between El Niño and La Niña every few years, on average. This isn’t new and it isn’t the end of the world. My lawd, get a grip folks. For the laymen, the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is a recurring climate pattern that originates in the tropical Pacific Ocean and influences global weather patterns through changes in sea surface temperatures driven by changes in atmospheric circulation. In the ENSO neutral phase, trade winds blow steadily from east to west across the equatorial Pacific. These winds push warm surface water westward toward Indonesia and Australia, while cold water upwells just off the west coast of South America. During La Niña phases, this circulation is stronger. During El Niño, trade winds weaken or reverse. Warm water spreads eastward toward the central and eastern Pacific. This shift suppresses upwelling along the Peruvian and Ecuadorian coasts. El Niño will likely increase West Pacific typhoon activity this year, but it will likely reduce Atlantic hurricanes and bring much-needed drought relief to the U.S.

Mayor Mamdani and Governor Hochul’s arrogant rhetoric will cost New Yorkers 20,000 jobs. The ultra wealthy who pay the greatest share of taxes, invest in NYC have options, and will be exercising their freedom to leave.
Sara Eisen@SaraEisen

As I said a week ago, risky strategy @NYCMayor In an internal email to Citadel NY employees, COO Gerald A. Beeson, says they may not move forward with the new Park Ave construction project now. “It is shameful that he [Mamdani] used Ken’s name as the example of those who supposedly aren’t carrying their fair share of the burdens associated with New York City’s often costly and wasteful spending. In doing so, the Mayor has once again manifested the ignorance and disdain of the elite political class towards those who have been consistently committed to building one of the greatest cities in the world.” “We are about to commence the redevelopment of 350 Park Avenue, creating 6,000 highly paid construction jobs and supporting the creation of more than 15,000 permanent jobs in mid-town New York. The project – if we move forward – will entail more than $6 billion dollars of spending.”

@Fxhedgers There! It’s like those lousy liberals—from the lazy spoiled old “Occupy Wall Street” to the present “DSA”— now think they can finally “rule” people in NY with their communist ideology designed as “socialism” bullshit! Any serious politician that supports them should fall! Sad.

Wealth taxes designed to go after billionaires never work. The billionaires have the flexibility to leave or find loopholes. A wealth tax usually results in that jurisdiction bringing in LESS tax revenue, not more.

Hey @NYCMayor, How about you focus on fixing NYC’s crime, homelessness, migrant crisis and sky-high taxes instead of playing Hollywood antitrust czar? Warner Bros. and Paramount shareholders just voted overwhelmingly to approve the merger. It’s a private business deal — not your city hall photo-op. Mind your own business, Mayor. New Yorkers elected you to run the city, not veto corporate mergers from coast to coast. Stay in your lane. 🗽

It's time for the mayor to behave responsibly and stop engaging in childish antics on social media. The tapping on the camera and treating job creators like piñatas is just immature nonsense. They'll leave with their jobs, investments and contributions and then we will be worse off.

Pushing Ken Griffin out would be a self-inflicted wound for New York. Ken is not a tax dodger, as some elected officials portrayed unfairly. Ken is one of the city’s largest job creators, with 2,500 employees and $2.3 billion in taxes paid over five years. When someone like that signals he’s done being made an example of, City Hall should be listening. The pied-a-terre tax proposal, without thoughtful exemptions for job creators, will hurt the very New Yorkers it claims to help. nypost.com/2026/04/23/bus…

Your utility bills are skyrocketing because Kathy Hochul refuses to tell the truth. While she plays games, New York families are paying the price. In Nassau, I cut taxes and protected your wallet. I haven’t raised taxes a penny in four years, and I won’t start now. When I am Governor, I will end the dishonesty.

Socialism fails because economic calculation remains impossible without market prices. No amount of good intentions changes this mathematical reality. When Ludwig von Mises published his calculation problem in 1920, he explained why central planners cannot rationally allocate resources. Without private property and voluntary exchange, you get no genuine prices. Without prices, you cannot determine costs. Without costs, every economic decision becomes a blind guess. The Soviet Union proved this theorem for 70 years, burning through mountains of capital while millions starved. Venezuela offers the latest textbook case. Chávez nationalized over 1,000 companies between 2002-2012, from oil to toilet paper production. The government printed money to fund social programs while price controls created shortages. By 2018, inflation hit 1,000,000% annually. Citizens fled by the millions. The same country with the world's largest oil reserves cannot keep the lights on. Cuba tells the same story across six decades. Castro seized private property, banned markets, and promised prosperity through central planning. Result: doctors driving taxis because tourism pays better than medicine. Average monthly salary: $30. Meanwhile, the ruling class lives in luxury while ordinary Cubans risk their lives on rafts to escape socialism's paradise. The pattern repeats everywhere socialism takes root. Cambodia, East Germany, Yugoslavia, Zimbabwe. Each experiment begins with promises of equality and ends with poverty, repression, and collapse. Free market economists predicted these outcomes because economic laws operate regardless of political wishes. You cannot suspend the laws of supply and demand any more than you can suspend gravity by voting.

The value of all private, residential properties in the U.S. housing market is $55.1 trillion. Mayor Mamdani and his comrades want to take that away from individual homeowners and hand it over to the government. Not sure what would happen to Mayor Mamdani's property in Africa.
Zohran Kwame Mamdani@ZohranKMamdani

People often ask what socialists mean when we say we want to "decommodify" housing. Basically, we want to move away from a situation where most people access housing by purchasing it on the market & toward a situation where the state guarantees high-quality housing to all. (1/8)

Everything about the Left is fake. Once you understand it, everything make sense. >Eat the rich... from your mansion >Save the planet... from your private jet >Everyone is racist... while you fund the racism. >Billionaires are evil... unless you fund our candidates. >Words are violence... but my violence is actually speech >Wrong pronouns are assault... but burning a courthouse in a protest is mostly peaceful >We love immigrants... unless you send them to Martha's Vineyard then we call ICE too >Democracy is sacred... unless we lose, then it was stolen by Russia, misinformation, or Elon >Diversity is our strength... unless you're a Black conservative, then you're a race traitor who needs to be destroyed >Tax the wealthy... while your foundation, your trust, and your three LLCs are structured specifically to avoid paying a dime of it >Capitalism is oppression... posted from an iPhone, on a platform worth a trillion dollars, while wearing merch sold through the your merch store linked in your bio It's all fake, it's all performative and should be endlessly mocked into oblivion. Give them zero comfort. The doctrine is always designed so the cost lands on someone else. The cashier pays for your protest. The suburban parents pays for your sanctuary city. The trade school kid pays for your student loan forgiveness. The taxpayer pays for your foundation's tax shelter. The working mom pays for your gas stove ban. The factory town pays for your Green New Deal. The girl on the swim team pays for your pronouns. The cop's widow pays for your bail reform. It's a massive, evil, cost-transfer operation that pretends the evil they are pushing, is moral. ...and it's just evil

The Rational Animal 🤔@theobjectivist·
Great, then resign. NYC "was" a living, breathing testament to working people-when it was governed by principles that let them actually work. Before politicians like you strangled it with regulations, taxes, and redistribution schemes. The city that built the skyline, that attracted the world's most ambitious, wasn't created by central planners invoking "working people" as a collective abstraction. It was built by "individuals" - entrepreneurs, builders, traders-free to produce and keep what they earned. You speak of NYC as if your ideology celebrates it. Your ideology is "destroying" what made it great. Every rent control, every mandate, every tax hike driving out the productive people who make this city breathe. Now you stand in the ruins of their achievement and claim to speak for the workers you've made poorer. A Marxist lamenting that a city is becoming a museum is like an arsonist lamenting the ashes.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

I don’t want NYC to become a museum. It should be a living, breathing testament to the working people of our city.
