Advertising a new model in the Lake District. Not the right place, Wrangler. Tranquillity is what the Lakes are for, not motorised adventure.

Volunteers needed! March 26... we're heading back to Alpacaly Ever After at Basecamp North to plant more hedges - and meet some very friendly alpacas! We had a brilliant time there in the autumn! @CumbriaCVS @ACTCumbria More details on our website: loom.ly/KoKe_wE

How would you describe the aura of the #lakedistrict? Its essence, the things that have made it a World Heritage Site and a National Park, cherished by millions? Two options, mutually exclusive: tranquillity or off-roading ⬇️

Today, we are a significant step closer to ensuring Windermere is protected for future generations. This is a truly historic moment for our lake. Over the last four years, our grassroots movement has highlighted the challenges facing our lake, and today, we have succeeded in bringing the government and all essential stakeholders together around a single, shared ambition: to end sewage pollution in Windermere once and for all. Speaking on the shores of the lake, Environment Minister Steve Reed made a groundbreaking commitment: “The government has pledged to work with us and local partners to eliminate all sewage discharges into Windermere.” This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without you. To our supporters, volunteers, businesses, and organisations who stood with us—thank you. We also acknowledge the leadership of United Utilities CEO Louise Beardmore and Environment Agency Area Director Carol Holt, who have worked with us in recent months to make today’s announcement possible. But let’s be clear—this is not the end. While today’s announcement is a breakthrough, it is still just a promise. Nothing is legally binding, and we won’t let this urgent issue be kicked into the long grass. We must keep up the pressure until these words turn into real, cast-iron commitments. We need you now more than ever. Stay with us. Support the fight. Help us secure a sewage-free Windermere. Together, we can make Windermere the cleanest lake in the country—preserving its beauty for generations to come. It’s time to stop the sewage. It’s time to Save Windermere.

Did you know there is no dedicated team or person in @DefraGovUK for grasslands, despite them covering 40% of England? We're joining @Love_plants & partners in calling for the Gov to establish a Grassland Taskforce to unlock their value🌱 Learn more: loom.ly/Jebd5Mk

Unfortunately it’s also a destination for off-roaders from all over Europe. Some tracks, like at Tilberthwaite, are part of a European network for off-road motorbikes. Please explore what this does to the landscape! On NT land! @nationaltrust @lakedistrictnpa @FriendsofLakes

A cloud inversion slowly rising off the fells in Ambleside to reveal the landscape which has been so extensively written about & which, since 2017, has been deemed a ‘Cultural Landscape’ with UNESCO World Heritage status - a journey & identification which we explore on our MA📚🍃

Green lanes are ancient tracks, mainly used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders as well as farmers. But many can also be used by 4x4s and motocross bikes. Lakes Parish Council is doing a consultation on green lanes and now's your chance to have your say...
