"Posterity! You will never know, how much it cost the present Generation, to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make a good Use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it." -- John Adams, April 1777

Whoa!! Tulsi Gabbard is out as the nation's intelligence chief. She resigned. It may well be her department's intel has been a little too truthful of late, particularly regarding Trump's Iranian War. 😎 nytimes.com/live/2026/05/2…

this was so sweet. Stephen Colbert just ended his final episode of The Late Show while singing "Hello, Goodbye" with Paul McCartney. his family and the show's crew then joined them on stage before Paul turned off the lights to the Ed Sullivan Theater

@RedState What he wants to put up is a tacky monstrosity nobody wants. What Americans actually want is desperate help with groceries, gas and utility bills that are sky high, off the chart. Trump's whole attitude is "Let them eat cake."

From colleague Tyler Olson. Johnson on if January 6 rioters should be eligible for weaponization compensation claims: The DOJ said they haven't set parameters for who will be eligible or not so I'm not answering hypotheticals

Stop pretending this is about cracking down on fraud when Trump literally let people who stole hundreds of millions in Medicare and Medicaid money walk free. One guy stole $1.3 billion and served 14 months of a 20-year sentence. When a reporter asked the DOJ about it, they refused to answer. That’s the hypocrisy people are angry about. Republicans want to talk tough on fraud while protecting the biggest fraudsters when they’re politically connected. If fraud is wrong, then it should be wrong for everyone.

@Mediaite There's no way in hell Democrats will elect Fetterman for anyone's VP. It's at least good to know that his staff is on top of the party mood, even though he clearly isn't.

BREAKING: Mitch McConnell just slammed the Trump slush fund: "So the nation's top law enforcement official is asking for a slush fund to pay people who assault cops? Utterly stupid, morally wrong – Take your pick."

After this Thursday’s show, the Ed Sullivan Theater will go dark, and we’ll lose one of the nation’s funniest and most courageous, truthful, and gentlemanly critics of Trump and his regime. Farewell, and thank you, Stephen. robertreich.substack.com/p/farewell-and…

One branch of the Executive is ordering another branch to pay $1.8 billion to the president's friends with no authorization by Congress or courts - with a side order that president and his family henceforward set their own tax obligation on a purely voluntary basis, no scrutiny.

Pennsylvania GOP Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick told reporters he "100%" wants to prevent the Trump slush fund from moving forward. "Once we get to the bottom of the source of the funding, we're going to put legislative text together. We got to figure out what we have jurisdiction over."
