On PPP, it’s the world's 4th largest economy (over $7 trillion) and bigger than Germany or Japan, with full-spectrum industrial capacity. That’s not a "middle power."
Russia can build nuclear submarines, icebreakers and nuclear power plants, launch people into space, produce advanced weapons, export energy at scale and, perhaps most crucially, feed and fuel itself.
Italy can’t.

'great powers, including China, Russia, and the United States'. Russia is not close to being a great power - it's economy is smaller than Italy's. What differentiates it from middle powers like Italy is its willingness to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of its people in imperial wars, and Russians' willingness to be sacrificed. Comparing Russia to the two superpowers is common, but it is a category error of epic proportions.

There's a very common form of military cope, which states that "country X could definitely conquer country Y, except it lacked the political will for that". This stems from the professionalisation of militaries, falsely separating the operational conduct of wars from the strategic.
Politics and warfare are not two distinct activities; war is fought for political ends. For most of history, military leadership has strongly drawn from a state's political leadership. Political "will" - which to a large extent means being able to obtain popular consent for the necessary material and moral privations of warfare - is a military resource just like ammunition even if it is much harder to quantify.
If the political system of country X can't generate sufficient consent for its objectives, then it isn't conquering country Y. Being theoretically able to kill everyone in Y is useless if X's soldiers are going to frag their officers, or X's munitions workers are going to strike. Militaries that take no account of this are failings their politicians as much as the usual accusations vice-versa.

Trump habló ayer en Miami, en un foro para inversores. Estuvo una hora hablando sin filtros. Reveló cosas que no habían sido confirmadas hasta ahora (como que Irán alcanzó un portaaviones americano). No es fácil entender cuándo habla en serio, cuándo se supone que estaba bromeando y cuántas cosas son fruto de su imaginación. Sus discursos son cada vez más desordenados y caóticos.
