Maybe @ovals or someone else w/Racing Office experience can explain this to me, because I'm really confused. Why was Sovereignty--a newly turned 4yo who had never faced older open company before--assigned the 123 highweight, while White Abarrio, an established older horse w/an incredible resume, got a 2-pound allowance from him (at 121)? That seems crazy to me. Obviously, this absolutely made no difference today, and White Abarrio won on the square, but I'd love to know the reasoning. White Abarrio is a Breeders' Cup Classic winner with three Grade Ones (two against open company) on his form. Sovereignty never raced outside of his own age group. Do racing secretaries use BSFs? Do they value the Derby more than the BC Classic? Would love to know the thought process here.

Horseplayers, I'm hearing two major racing associations are considering cutting off CAW businesses in all pools when first horse enters starting gate. Add cycle time for those bets to be reflected in odds/will pays, and we'll have a short time to make our post-CAW bets.
