This: People just don't get it unless you live it. I used to hop in first thing every day. Now? Showering is a basic necessity that takes days to prepare for and days to recover from. #OpioidsSaveLives
Sassy Devil Dog 🔥@VinoNStrosGal

I’m going to let myself get personal for a minute. Today is shower day. If you had asked me three and a half years ago what the hardest part of my day would ever be, I would have laughed if someone said: “Taking a shower.” A shower? Something warm. Something comforting. Something people associate with relaxing after a long day. Three and a half years ago, I would have thought walking through soft sand at Clearwater Beach in the Florida heat, feeling the sun on my skin, the breeze coming off the water, playing two-on-two volleyball, running, pushing my body, would be harder. It isn’t. The shower became harder. Because for many people living with chronic illness and chronic pain, there are mountains hidden inside ordinary things. Standing upright. Heat. Pain. Dizziness. Heart rate. Fatigue. The quiet calculation that starts before the water is even turned on. “Do I have enough in me today?” People see a shower and see ten minutes. Some of us see an obstacle course. And unless you’ve lived it, I don’t think people understand the grief that comes with watching something that once meant comfort become something you mentally prepare for. To those living this too, I want to hear from you. What are your shower-day hacks? Shower chairs? Cooling tricks? Music? Breaking it into steps? Resting before and after? Jump into the replies. No judgment. No explaining yourself. Just people who understand the things the rest of the world often never sees.

It is, unfortunately, an Islamic tradition. We need to send the hard-line Islamacists home before we have no country left to protect. The ritual is called Matam or Latmiya. It is a centuries-old Islamic tradition of mourning practiced by Shia Muslims to honor the martyrdom of Imam Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. The Meaning: Participants slap their chests in a synchronized, rhythmic motion while chanting. It is a physical expression of grief and solidarity, allowing mourners to share in the pain and sorrow that Imam Husayn and his family endured during the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD. The Symbolism: The rhythmic beating specifically honors the memory of Husayn's chest, which was reportedly pierced by arrows and trampled by enemy horses following his death. The Occasion: While typically observed during Ashura (the tenth day of the Islamic month of Muharram), these processions can occur during other major holy periods such as during the month of Safar. For Shia communities around the world—including groups of mourners in Italy and other locations—this public gathering is a deeply spiritual act of remembrance, meant to stand as a testament against injustice, oppression, and tyranny. Don't call it "gay", tell what's really taking over our streets.

America needs to treat its suffering war heroes with the same dedication and courage that they fought for us. Over 52% of our Veterans are suiciding solely due to untreated pain. Pain that can be treated with RX pain meds, but are denied. They'd rather make them suffer and end their own lives than treat physical pain.

@worked_over @thewriterme @RYboating I know, right? I didn't know what she was talking about until the "tylenolah". She's an offense to humanity. Another bad nurse with the usual anti-opioid attitude and pain patient hate.

@PainSteals @DocPriyamMD You’d be proud of me I was messaging a doctor in the EMR about one of our patients and I resisted the urge to write “frequent flyer” Instead I wrote “I do not understand why we cannot control her pain when her cancer is under excellent control “ 😊

Thanks to the litigation narrative and "removing stigma from addiction," pain pts are treated like scum. Patient story: "Doctor at the ED last week literally yelled “you’re not getting any drugs” at me one sentence into me answering why I was there today. Then my husband tried to say something (calmly and nicely) back and he cut him off immediately, “don’t speak to me. You’re not the patient”"

Quebec also has the highest assisted suicide rate in the country. You know who's getting MAID? 1) terminally ill (Track 1) 2) chronically ill (Track II) - including those who were thriving on RX opioids, were ripped off them in 2018, begged for relief, and then begged for death. Nearly 60% of Track II cite pain or fear of untreated pain as #1 reason for MAID. 20% have RA or chronic pain. How many dead treatable pain pts is acceptable for you? My answer is zero. But Ontario is killing at least 3/day. Illicit OD's in seniors has risen a horrifying 9000%. That means if there were 750 OD'd elderly in 2018, there are now 67,500. These are abandoned pain pts desperate enough to turn to the streets. How many pain suicides are there? We don't know, Gov won 't track outcomes. But 52.3% of out wounded war heroes are suiciding due to untreated pain. ER pain pts are NOT having their pain managed, especially when you have "opioid-free" surgeries & hospitals, and 35 States get a 35% bonus for NOT prescribing opioids for pain. No, that nurse is not just one, she's thousands. Just ask any pain pt on here.

I don’t think you can conclude from one comment whether or not I’m listening I’m literally here to learn about the topic Focusing on ER is too narrow. That is literally the population that has inadequate pain relief. They are a subset of all patients with chronic pain The ones with good pain control are home, comfortable, living their lives I said “the majority” and I’ll stand by that. That is 50.1%. More than half There are scant data on the subject and most of it is retrospective and self selected which is biased. But a Quebec study showed ~80% of chronic pain patients had decent relief of pain Similarly a US study had more than half with adequate pain relief. I realize these studies are not ideal. But there are no good studies

This Complex Pain Patient says: " I fkn swear I will try, and if nothing changes I absolutely will end my life". Jim, I am so sorry. I pray this works. One more try. Just one more try to access ethical compassionate pain mgt with RX opioids. Document everything, record all appointments, interactions, & denials, the abuse & abandonment, & if all fails - again - then where is hope? Life is unsurvivable without RX opioids for pain for tens of millions of us. We clearly are disposable, unimportant, and not worth saving. Until people have been forced to survive in torturous levels of untreated pain, nobody will ever understand. If our suicides are the only way to force our Governments to stop torturing us, the only way to force the media and the public to hear us, then this is what must he done. Know this: All Government agencies, organizations, groups, & politicians who have supported Prohibition Policy, as well as media, private industry, and individual professionals who had any hand in this horrorshow, in the mass torture of the disabled, ill, injured, and elderly people, those who profited financially, professionally, or personally in the support of prohibition will be held legally and financially accountable. How many deaths will be enough? How many deaths will be too many? Blessings, Jim. I'm so sorry. #CrimesAgainstHumanity #StopPROP

I agreed to try one more time and if doctors reject seeing me I'm done. I agreed to try my 5th medicaid insurance. My glasses cost $350 and I'm homeless and broke. My tumor is killing me and if my CRPS flares I can't breathe . My "default" gf nagged me to death but I want her to see exactly why Medicaid sucks after Obamacare for patients like me and after falsely blaming pain management for the opioid crisis, I have been given two options suboxone and methadone but only a fentanyl patch 50 mcg/hrs quiets my inoperable neuroma. I try to tell people I'm legally blind and I am so sick after being neglected for so very long, I can't just wake up the next day and pick myself up. If that we're true, I'd be working but people misunderstand both of my diagnosis and what it's like to be so blind enough life is far too difficult. Death is preferable to another round of denials of medical care and treatment. I will document what happens starting tomorrow because I want people to see how I always hit a wall teying to get hel0 going into the 17th year and I want the public to see exactly what happens to me when I try again and then I am never going to try again after my tumor celebrated it's 16th birthday. I fkn swear I will try and if nothing changes I absolutely will end my life. The consequences of being denied pain management for all 7 million has been severe and I'm finish after this. Here's how I can see my computer screen a little but I have to put my eye up to my phone to use my phone.

Nurse says (with a scowl, wagging her finger in your face), in one of the most cruel, harsh, & intimidating tones: "No dilaudah until you try norcolah. No norcolah? Tylenolah", continuing with "And I gunna let the doctor know you not fittin' to run me ragged my whole shift". Trust? Destroyed. Respect? Non-existent. Fear? Through the roof. Anxiety? You better believe it. This nurse says what far too many feel but don't say out loud. However, her increasingly common attitude doesn't need to be spoken to harm patients. We already feel it. Loud & clear. If a sales clerk acted this way around or towards a customer, they'd be fired in a heartbeat and never work in retail again. But this isn't a shoe shop, and she isn't a sales clerk. This is the person we see when we're at our most vulnerable, when we're suffering, sick, & understandably scared. Health care is increasingly staffed by (apparent) sociopaths, who glory in the power imbalance & terrorizing the vulnerable pts they're paid to care for. Disabled, ill, injured, & elderly people already struggle with the feeling & fear of being a burden. Nurses like this are why Complex Pain pts avoid the ER, and often delay seeking medical care until there's no other choice. This naturally contributes to worse pt outcomes, but is completely understandable. I'm rarely surprised at what comes out of nurse's & doctor's mouths anymore, but this one stopped me cold. I'm shocked & horrified. She and every HCP like her should never be allowed near patients, not just pain pts, but any kind. I hope she's discovered and terminated. This must stop. * sorry about too many words - you can blame (or thank) MommaBear for gifting me a bigger X-box *
