Our City outreach crews are hard at work cleaning streets and offering services. On Monday, the Healthy Streets Operation Center engaged 17 people experiencing homelessness at 7th & Mission & 14 accepted shelter. Tuesday on Geary & Masonic, they engaged 10 people & sheltered 3.

We can’t have two tiers of justice: one for Trump, another for Biden. One for Assange, another for Manning. One for BLM/Antifa, another for peaceful protesters on Jan 6. I never thought we’d see the day when the U.S. President deputizes the DOJ to arrest his lead rival in the middle of an election. Obama shamefully tried to deputize the FBI to infiltrate Trump’s 2016 campaign, but they’re leaving nothing to chance this time around: the federal police state is outright arresting Trump. This is an affront to every citizen: we cannot devolve into a banana republic where the party in power uses police force to arrest its political opponents. It’s hypocritical for the DOJ to selectively prosecute Trump but not Biden. There are also serious legal questions about the President’s power to declassify documents and the potential illegality of the over-classification of federal documents in the first place. That’s for the courts to decide, but *we the people* decide who governs this nation. It would be much easier for me to win this election if Trump weren’t in the race, but I stand for principles over politics. I commit to pardon Trump promptly on January 20, 2025 and to restore the rule of law in our country.

Five years ago today, my friend Tony Bourdain left us. Tony had a huge impact on my life through his work and his friendship. Tony was also there for me during a tough time and pushed me, in only a way he could, to keep going. Imagine waking up in the morning to messages like "I'm in Bhutan. Where are you? You know, I was thinking about why you need to keep writing..." If you're a fan of Tony's, you should know that he was everything you would expect him to be, grumpy, curious, and incredibly loyal, and when he cared about something or someone, you could feel it emanating from him. While some people didn't know what he was dealing with, that didn't make him fake, just private. He was never fake. He would never pretend to care about something out of politeness. Sometimes you'd get a one-word response from him, and other times he'd go on and on. Tony's global footprint also inspires me, and I see reminders of him everywhere. It's like he's always with me. Whether it's when I think about Iran or photos he sent me from his trips to Africa, especially in the bush when he saw elephants, or when I think about how he gave the best restaurant recommendations (of course). You could always go to him with a specific request like "I need an Italian restaurant in Nairobi that's not too crowded" or "I need an Ethiopian restaurant in Rome." He'd always come back with the perfect choice. I'll admit that five years on, I still harbor some sadness that Tony played a big part in helping me keep going, but I couldn't do the same for him. I have so many questions I want to ask you, Tony. I miss you.

As a marketer, I don’t understand HBO’s decision to rebrand to MAX. Why would you drop a household name only to switch to something so generic that has no brand equity? HBO literally stands for Home Box Office. Isn’t that what streaming is? Their name was made for this moment.
