Apart from SIR, ECI, CBI, ED, IT, what do you think are the main reason behind TMC’s defeat in West Bengal?

@dhruv_rathee if in your city after living for 59 years, you feel like shifting to another city or country, i don’t mind a biased election to evict the evil ..

27 Lakh Voters were deleted in West Bengal.
These were not 'dead people' or 'bangladeshis'. These were real people who had already appealed to get their votes restored. The Supreme court could’ve delayed the West Bengal elections until the tribunals finished hearing the appeals of these voters. But they didn’t. Only around 1607 voters were restored in time by phase 2 of these elections. Almost every appeal that was heard turned out to be a wrongful deletion.
In any functional democracy, this would not count as a free and fair election where a large section of voters have lost their voting rights. I'm not saying that TMC would've won for sure if they were added back, maybe BJP would still win, but the question is about the fairness of these elections.
Free and fair elections are a spectrum. Ever since Delhi-Maharashtra-Bihar-Bengal, this needle has moved more and more towards being unfair. Each time somehow the opposition parties participate as usual in the electoral process thinking that they can still pull of a win despite the compromised EC, ED, CBI etc. and each time they have been proven wrong after 2024 Lok Sabha. The question is, at what point will they feel that the level of unfairness is so unfair that elections should be boycotted?
I personally feel TMC should have refused to participate in these elections until all those 27 lakh appeals were finished being heard.

Dear @abhishekaitc,
You said, “whose fathers from Delhi will stay home after May 4,” and promised a “grand DJ celebration” across Bengal.
Bengal has given its answer—there is no place for threats or intimidation in a democracy.

#WATCH | Kolkata | West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee says, "More than 100 seats BJP looted. The Election Commission is the BJP's commission. I complained to the CO and also Manoj Agrawal, but they are not doing anything. Do you think this is a victory? It is an immoral victory, not a moral victory. Whatever the Election Commission has done, along with the Central Forces and the PM & Home Minister, is totally illegal. It is loot, loot, loot. We will bounce back."

@SudhanidhiB what is the difference between TMC and BJP if this happens

#WATCH | West Bengal Elections 2026 | On the early trends in voting, TMC candidate from Maniktala assembly constituency, Shreya Pandey, says, "The 1st round is too early... There are 20 rounds in total, so 19 rounds are still left... TMC is going to form the government."

@Nithin0dha Welcome to Kolkata don’t miss the street food here

A bunch of us travelled to Kolkata with our families and visited the Victoria Memorial and the Indian Museum. My first proper museum trip in Kolkata, and it’s easily the best museum city in India.
The Victoria Memorial, conceived by Lord Curzon after the death of Queen Victoria in 1901 and opened in 1921, is stunning as architecture. But seeing it in India feels a bit off. Built with Indian money and marble from Rajasthan, it’s also a reminder of the scale of extraction during British rule.
The Indian Museum is something else altogether. The range of archaeology, fossils, art, and anthropology is incredible. You can spend hours and still not be done.
Sharing this because we don’t really have a strong museum-going culture in India. Maybe the long stretch of British rule has something to do with it. But if there are two museums to start with, these are a must-visit.

@CAChirag 1. Expenses at 40 and 60 are not same even with same life style
2. One with 40 crore worth won’t sit ideal for next 20 years , the person and money both will work
everything is not maths
English

A ₹40 crore retirement fund is needed for anyone who is 40 years old today, spending 2 lakhs a month and planning to retire by 60! It's trending.
IMHO Anyone spending 2 to 3 lakhs today, considering a realistic high inflation of 10%, will need a corpus of ₹50 to ₹75 crore to maintain the same lifestyle at a age of 60

@Nithin0dha when you have very few high quantity traders who probably contribute to max of your revenue, why don’t treat them same as all others ? why you don’t give him priority, they don’t deserve extra care ?

Despite what people think about F&O trading in India and all its problems, it is still a very, very small market compared to almost anything else. In fact, in the month of March, only about 30 lakh people traded an F&O contract. Across FY26 as a whole, only about 20 lakh people traded only in F&O. If you combine people who traded in equities and F&O, that number goes up to roughly 64 lakh.
So this is still a very small market. Altogether, out of nearly 13 crore unique investors, only around 3.8 crore investors were active across cash and F&O. That means only about 30% of investors traded anything at all.
And yet, the only reason broker revenues have held up is that a small number of people are trading more. Pretty much the entire revenue pool of the broking industry comes from this relatively small pool of traders.
If you look at F&O turnover, around 60–70% of trading volumes come from a tiny set of investors, roughly just 1–2%. That is the lopsided structure of the Indian markets.
