@LekhuleniZano@Inqubeko_news First red flag, unlike people Limpopo, people from the former Bop would “I am from Lehurutshe” before they add Bop, which is very rare these days
@Inqubeko_news Is this not the guy who said he was born in Bophuthatswana? He said he was married to a Chinese. Apparently he said he was born from the ruling class of Bophuthatswana
under Mangope.
The Mozambican national, Galston Anthony, alleges that individuals within the MK Party approached him with a proposal to become their mayoral candidate for Johannesburg. However, he rejected the offer and advised them not to proceed with their plan to engage the their president Jacob Zuma on the matter.
Anthony says he declined the proposal because he does not align with the MK Party. Instead, he approached Herman Mashaba of ActionSA, requesting to be considered as the party’s mayoral candidate for Johannesburg, but his request was unsuccessful.
He also reached out to Musi Maimane of BOSA. However, discussions did not materialise, as Maimane reportedly preferred him to play a behind-the-scenes role, while Anthony insisted on being the main candidate.
Following these developments, Anthony has decided to form his own political party, “Know Your Power” (KYP), and has confirmed that he will be contesting for the Johannesburg mayoral position.
@CalvinPhiri8@mfundi__mpelane@Naphty5@pinkykhoabane Broer, I nevervheld a candle for him, he has to account but let all the others who presided on companies that went through the same route be held accountable too.
@papyt14@mfundi__mpelane@Naphty5@pinkykhoabane Papy, in my earlier response i mentioned him being the alpha and omega coming to SAPS procument. Accussing people because Gen Masemola might look saint to some of us is dangerous
As accounting authority and head of SAPS, Gen Masemola bears overall responsibility for procurement under the PFMA.
He testified that he didn't sign off the tender - it "doesn't come to my desk".
It was signed off by the Divisional Head Supply Chain Management.
He also testified he cancelled it at the instruction of Minister Mchunu.
Perhaps he has been summoned to court over his oversight role?🤔
Is it a case of the buck stops with the head?
@CalvinPhiri8@mfundi__mpelane@Naphty5@pinkykhoabane Calvin, I understand but it does not look good because SAPS is currently a factional cesspool. If there was consistency in applying the law, this could have been seen as the normal
@papyt14@mfundi__mpelane@Naphty5@pinkykhoabane This case, Papy is 2024 case investigated by the SIU, did we ever thought of Gen Mkhwanazi having a press conference last year? The answer is No.....
Julius Malema said that one of the things he was told by General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, while he was speaking negatively about General Fannie Masemola, was that Masemola is a coward.
Malema stated that Mkhwanazi claimed Masemola surrounds himself with female deputies because he is afraid of men, believing that men would challenge and remove him from his position because he has no capacity 😶
These are deputies of General Masemola:
• General Leneo Nkhuoa — Deputy National Commissioner for Support Services
• General Hilda Senthumule — Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection
• General Tebello Mosikili — Deputy National Commissioner for Policing
@PhumlaniMMajozi I do agree wholeheartedly. Short term shortages are inconvenient but should be accepted. A nuclear capable Iran pushing Jihad will be much worse than inconvenient.
To my American and Israeli friends, here’s my message: Leaving the Iranian regime still standing will be the biggest blunder of the 21st century. The regime will definitely get a nuclear weapon. Don’t leave that cancerous regime standing. Don’t! #geopolitics#politics#middleeast
@pierredevos@News24 As a country we can't have a national police commissioner with allegations of criminal activities running the country if idac says they are charging him..then he needs to be suspended immediately..this means there's a prima facie evidence against him
🔒Masemola ignored two warnings that the deal was marred by fraud, and Matlala was paid R50 million. The Investigating Directorate Against Corruption will charge Masemola for failing in his duties as accounting officer. news24.com/investigations… via @news24
@NgcwaziE@pierredevos@News24 How many have answered to numerous warnings from AGSA so far? Do yourself a favour and listen to her pronouncing on the same since she assumed office
@pierredevos@wicks_jeff@News24 Millions were stolen from Thembisa hospital. People died as a result of this, including a whistle blower and all IDAC can find is Masemola to charge.
@mfundi__mpelane@Naphty5@pinkykhoabane But this is different, Mfundi, Gen Masemola is the Accounting officer at SAPS, the bucks stop with him...Khumalo's issue was a different story
The 1st Director General since 1994 to be hauled before a Court of Law on PFMA matters.
* without a charge of financial misconduct by EA.
* without adverse finding by AGSA, SCOPA or Portfolio Committee (APP)
* Is the State being weaponised for nefarious/political agendas?🤔🤔
Dear Legal Commentators or Legal Professionals!
Sotheni said he didn't know his own lawyer. How does it happen that an accused ends up with a lawyer without his knowledge?
National Police Commissioners: The scorecard
✅ Commissioners who completed full terms..
Very few have actually seen out a full, stable term.
• George Fivaz (1995–2000)
→ Completed his term.
• Khehla Sitole (2017–2022)
→ Effectively completed his term (left by agreement at end of tenure).
👉 Total: 2 commissioners who can reasonably be said to have completed full terms.
❌ Commissioners who did NOT complete their terms
Most were forced out, suspended, or left under a cloud:
• Jackie Selebi (2000–2008)
→ Suspended before term ended.
• Bheki Cele (2009–2011)
→ Suspended and later fired over misconduct.
• Riah Phiyega (2012–2015)
→ Suspended, never returned.
• Acting commissioners (like Khomotso Phahlane)
→ Short-term, often ended in scandal or removal.
• Fannie Masemola (2022– )
→ Still in office, now facing charges.
👉 Pattern: instability is the norm, not the exception.
⚖️ Commissioners charged criminally:
This is where it gets even more serious.
• Jackie Selebi
→ Charged and convicted of corruption.
• Khehla Sitole
→ Faced criminal charges related to an IPID investigation.
• Fannie Masemola
→ Now set to be charged over the R360m tender scandal.
👉 Total: At least 3 commissioners have faced criminal charges.
📊 Bottom line
• Completed full terms: 2
• Faced criminal charges: 3
🧭 What this actually tells you?
This isn’t just bad luck — it’s systemic:
• Leadership instability at the top of SAPS is chronic
• Allegations of corruption reach the highest office in policing
• Public trust gets hammered every time this cycle repeats.
WATCH | South African Policing Union spokesperson Lesiba Thobakgale has condemned the way in which 12 police officers implicated in the awarding of the Medicare24 tender were arrested by IDAC.
