BY Vijayendra Defends Fuel Price Hikes, Hits Back at Congress Govt Bengaluru Karnataka #BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra has strongly defended the Central Government’s decision on #petrol and #diesel pricing, hitting back at the #Congress for its criticism. Speaking to reporters, Vijayendra argued that the Congress has no moral ground to question Prime Minister #NarendraModi’s government, pointing out that the #Siddaramaiah#DKShivakumar administration in Karnataka has itself hiked fuel taxes multiple times since coming to power. “First, ask Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar, ever since this Congress government came to power in Karnataka, they have increased the taxes on petrol and diesel four or five times,” Vijayendra said. He further explained that the rise in fuel prices is not unique to India but part of a global trend, citing the ongoing tensions between #America and #Iran and the prevailing war-like atmosphere as key factors driving international crude oil costs upward. “Naturally, such a decision had to be taken in India as well, and the Central Government has moved in that direction,” he added. Vijayendra maintained that before Congress leaders level allegations against the Centre, they should first reflect on their own record of repeated tax hikes in #Karnataka. @BYVijayendra @siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @INCKarnataka @BJP4Karnataka

Karnataka Cyber Command Arrests Two for Creation and Distribution of CSAM Bengaluru In a rare and decisive crackdown on digital exploitation, the #Karnataka #CyberCommand has arrested two men for the creation and online dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material (#CSAM). The operation, executed by the #CyberCrime Police Station of #Bengaluru South District, stands out as one of the few instances where authorities have apprehended the primary creators and uploaders of such content rather than just consumers. The investigation was triggered by a report filed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (#NCRP), highlighting suspected production of exploitative content.Acting on the lead, Kaggalipura Police registered a case on May 10, 2026. Investigations revealed that two minor girls had been exploited, with the acts recorded on mobile phones and subsequently uploaded online. Based on victim statements, a specialized team led by Police Inspector Vasanthkumar K. tracked and arrested the suspects on May 12, 2026. The accused were identified as : 1. Kiran Kumar (A1): 29, originally from #Chitradurga District, residing in Kaggalipura. 2. Aditya M.K. (A2): 20, a swimming pool maintenance worker from #Shivamogga District, residing in Channapatna Taluk. “This case is one of the very few instances where content creators and uploaders have been apprehended,” said Dr. Pronab Mohanty, IPS, Director General of Police, Cyber Command. Police seized three mobile phones used in the crime. The FIR, initially filed under Sections 67 and 67(B) of the IT Act, has been expanded to include stringent provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 65(2), 70 and the POCSO Act Sections 4(2), 5(L), 5(M), 6, 14 and 15. Airtel ‘Customer Care’ Impersonator Executes eSIM Fraud in Bengaluru Bengaluru The South East CEN Crime Police of #Bengaluru have registered a case of #CyberFraud after a 47 year old resident of HSR Layout was duped of ₹11,90,002 in an “eSIM swap” scam. According to the FIR, the victim was contacted on May 7 via WhatsApp by a fraudster posing as an #Airtel Customer Care executive. Using the number +91 95472 67586, the caller convinced the victim that his mobile number required #eSIM activation. Karnataka CM Clarifies Stand on Hijab and Religious Symbols Bengaluru Chief Minister #Siddaramaiah has reiterated that the government’s recent order on religious symbols in educational institutions is not limited to the #Hijab, but extends to other traditional practices as well. Responding to questions from reporters, Siddaramaiah said, “It is not just the Hijab. Those who wear the sacred thread (#Janivara), the #shivadara or the rudraksha… all of them can wear them according to their respective beliefs. This applies up to the 12th standard, whether it is primary school, high school, or college.” When asked about saffron shawls, the Chief Minister firmly ruled them out. “No shawls, no shawls… You cannot come wearing shawls. You can wear a turban, the sacred thread, the shivadara, the rudraksha, and you can wear the Hijab,” he clarified. Siddaramaiah explained that only traditional practices already in existence would be allowed. “By turban, I mean what is already in practice… nothing new can be introduced. Only those things that have been traditionally in practice and part of existing beliefs until now are allowed.” The #BJP has denounced the government’s move as political appeasement, alleging it is intended to woo Muslim voters. @siddaramaiah @BJP4Karnataka @INCKarnataka

BJP Leader R. Ashoka Slams Karnataka Govt Over Hijab Ban Withdrawal, Alleges ‘Anti-Hindu’ Bias Bengaluru Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (#BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition in the #Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, has sharply criticized the Congress-led state government for its decision to withdraw the #hijab ban in educational institutions. Speaking to reporters,R.Ashoka accused Chief Minister #Siddaramaiah of indulging in “excessive appeasement” politics and warned that the move could trigger a strong backlash from the #Hindu community. R. Ashoka described the government’s recent policy decisions as a betrayal of the majority population, alleging that the administration was favoring specific groups for electoral gains. He pointed to financial allocations as evidence of bias, claiming, “This is an anti-Hindu government. They are betraying and deceiving Hindus. Just recently, they allocated a full grant of about 800 to 900 crores only to the Muslim community. There are no grants for anyone else.” Drawing parallels with political trends in other states, the BJP leader argued that leaders who “insult” or “ignore” Hindu sentiments eventually face defeat at the polls. He cited examples from West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Keralam, asserting that voters there had already begun rejecting “appeasement politics.” “Whoever criticizes Hindus in this manner or treats them unjustly, the entire Hindu community is standing together to teach them a lesson,” R. Ashoka declared, directly targeting Siddaramaiah and Congress MLAs as likely to face electoral consequences. The BJP leader also weighed in on the ongoing debate over religious attire, defending the use of #saffron. He highlighted what he saw as hypocrisy in the government’s stance, noting that while officials oppose saffron symbols in schools, they simultaneously “bow down” to Swamijis who wear the same attire. @RAshokaBJP @BJP4Karnataka @BJP4India

Minister Madhu Bangarappa Says CM Siddaramaiah ‘Hurt’ by Janivara Row; Karnataka Now Aligns With Kendriya Vidyalaya Norms Bengaluru Karnataka Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa announced that the government has withdrawn the 2022 order restricting students from wearing religious symbols such as #hijab, sacred threads (#janivara) and other faith-based attire inside examination halls. Referring to the April 24 incident at a #Bengaluru #CET center, where a student was allegedly forced to remove his sacred thread, Bangarappa said the government acted to safeguard students’ rights and ensure education is not disrupted by religious practices. “A child was asked to remove the sacred thread, which is very sacred for their family. The child was hurt, parents were upset, and associations raised concern. Such practices,be it hijab, saree, scarf or sacred thread, should not come in the way of education or the future of children,” the minister stated. Madhu Bangarappa added that Chief Minister #Siddaramaiah was “really hurt” by the incident and directed immediate corrective action. He stressed that the decision was taken in the “interest of children” and not under political or communal pressure. The minister clarified that the withdrawn order will now be handled legally by the law department, even as related cases remain pending before the Supreme Court. He emphasized that #Karnataka’s move aligns with practices in Kendriya Vidyalayas and other institutions where students are allowed to follow their religious customs.“Our Constitution allows all religions. We don’t create laws that hurt children’s interests. Whatever religious practices exist, they should not interfere with education,” Madhu Bangarappa said. The issue has sparked statewide debate, especially in #Udupi, where the hijab controversy first emerged in 2022. Madhu Bangarappa reiterated that the government’s stance remains consistent: safeguarding education while respecting constitutional freedoms. @Madhu_Bangarapp @siddaramaiah

The Litmus Test in Karnataka: Why Congress Must Send a Woman to the Rajya Sabha Bengaluru The political air in India is thick with the rhetoric of “#NariShakti.” As the debate over the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill continues to dominate headlines, with the ruling #BJP and the #Congress trading barbs over who truly champions the cause, a golden opportunity has emerged for the Congress party in #Karnataka. With four #RajyaSabha seats from the state falling vacant this June, including that of #AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress is poised to win at least three. For a party that has made “representation and justice” its central plank, this isn’t just a routine election; it is a litmus test. While the #WomensReservationBill remains in a state of delimitation-induced limbo, there is no legal barrier preventing political parties from voluntarily practicing what they preach. The Congress has frequently criticized the Union Government for delaying the 33% reservation. By nominating a woman for the upcoming Rajya Sabha cycle in Karnataka, the party can move from critique to conduct. Sending a woman leader to the Upper House from a “guarantee-driven” state like Karnataka would be powerful. It would signal that the party’s commitment to women, seen in schemes like Gruha Lakshmi, extends beyond financial support to genuine political agency. Karnataka has no dearth of capable women leaders who have served the party for decades. From grassroots organizers to seasoned former ministers to AICC Secretaries, the talent pool is deep. Historically, the Rajya Sabha has often been used to accommodate “high-command” favorites or outgoing veterans. While the re-election of a stalwart like Mallikarjun Kharge is a foregone conclusion and a political necessity, the remaining seats offer the Congress a chance to break the status quo. Politics is as much about perception as it is about policy. In the 2026 political landscape, youth and women voters are the most sought-after demographics. If the Congress fails to nominate a woman from Karnataka this June, its arguments for the Women’s Reservation Bill will ring hollow, dismissed as another instance of “tokenism in theory, exclusion in practice.” Conversely, a woman representative from Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha would become a living embodiment of the party’s Nyay (Justice) philosophy. The June Rajya Sabha elections are more than a numbers game for the Congress. They are a chance to prove that support for women’s reservation is not a political convenience but a core conviction. Karnataka has given the Congress a solid mandate; now it is time for the Congress to give the women of Karnataka a seat at the highest table of Indian democracy. @INCSandesh @INCKarnataka @INCIndia @RahulGandhi @siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar @kharge

Rizwan Arshad Hails Karnataka Govt Decision Allowing Hijab, Janivara, Turban; Thanks Siddaramaiah and Madhu Bangarappa Bengaluru #Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad has welcomed the Karnataka government’s decision to permit students to wear religious symbols such as the #hijab,#janivara (sacred thread) and turban in schools and PU colleges, calling it a step towards inclusivity and respect for traditions. Speaking on Wednesday, Rizwan Arshad said the move was necessary to undo the “politics” of the previous #BJP government, which had banned the hijab in classrooms through a 2022 order. “Girls were prohibited from wearing the hijab and recently we even saw instances where a child’s janivara was removed. Children faced unnecessary hardships just to attend school,” he remarked. Rizwan Arshad emphasized that the new order ensures no student will face obstacles on account of their faith. “Regardless of caste or religion, every boy or girl can follow their traditions while respecting the uniform. They can attend school or college without discrimination,” he said. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister #Siddaramaiah and Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa for issuing the directive. “No one can now stop or impose conditions on any child from any religion seeking education at government or private institutions,” Rizwan Arshad added. @ArshadRizwan @Madhu_Bangarapp @siddaramaiah

Karnataka Government Permits Wearing Hijab, Turban, Janivara, Shivadhara and Rudraksha in Schools and PU Colleges Bengaluru In a significant policy shift, the Karnataka Government has withdrawn its 2022 order on #DressCode in #schools and PU Colleges. A new directive issued today establishes a framework aimed at balancing institutional discipline with the constitutional right to education. The government has replaced the earlier mandate with a policy that continues to require uniforms but allows “limited traditional and practice-based symbols.” Students are now permitted to wear headscarves (#hijab), turbans (#peta), sacred threads (#janivara), #Shivadhara and #Rudraksha beads, provided these remain supplementary to the prescribed uniform. The order states that no student can be denied entry to classrooms, institutions, or examination halls for wearing permitted traditional symbols. These items must not replace or alter the uniform’s purpose, nor hinder identification or compromise safety and discipline. The directive also prohibits forcing any student to wear such symbols, while forbidding their forced removal. The preamble notes that while the Karnataka Education Act, 1983 empowers the state to maintain discipline, it must also foster a secular and inclusive environment. The government emphasized that secularism, in the constitutional sense, is not opposition to personal beliefs but the practice of institutional impartiality and non-discrimination. “Institutions must adopt the noble inclusive stance of ‘Ivanammava’ (He is one of ours) as taught by #Basavanna,” the order states,, underscoring that the primary goal is to ensure no student is denied education. Effective immediately, the directive renders any prior institutional circulars or local resolutions that contradict these guidelines null and void. While the policy applies across all government and private educational institutions, the government clarified that national and state-level dress codes may still be enforced during specific examination periods as required by relevant authorities. The Commissioner of School Education and the Director of Pre-University Education have been tasked with ensuring uniform and non-discriminatory implementation of these rules across the state. @Madhu_Bangarapp @ArshadRizwan @ShalaShikshana @siddaramaiah

Anti-Rahul, Priyanka Posters Emerge in Keralam Wayanad/Kozhikode A week after the #Congress-led United Democratic Front (#UDF) swept the 2026 #Keralam Assembly elections, jubilation has given way to visible discontent within party ranks. On Wednesday, posters critical of senior Congress leaders #RahulGandhi and #PriyankaGandhiVadra appeared across Wayanad and Kozhikode, reflecting growing frustration over the delay in naming the state’s next Chief Minister. The posters, plastered near the #Wayanad District Congress Committee (DCC) office and at major junctions in #Kozhikode, carried sharp messages. One read: “Mr. Rahul and Priyanka, forget Wayanad. You won’t win again from here.” Another warned that the leadership’s indecision was a “blunder” the people of Kerala would not forgive. Targeting AICC General Secretary #KCVenugopal, who is widely speculated to be in contention alongside the Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan, one poster declared: “Mr. Rahul, KC might be your bag bearer, but the people of Kerala will never forgive you.” Despite the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) passing a one-line resolution authorizing the high command to select the leader, eight days have elapsed without an announcement. @INCKerala @RahulGandhi @priyankagandhi

Gelatin Sticks with Unconnected Circuit Found Near Art of Living Ahead of PM Visit; NIA May Take Over Probe Bengaluru Karnataka’s Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara said the state government is prepared to hand over the investigation into the discovery of gelatin sticks near the Art of Living center to the National Investigation Agency (#NIA) if requested. For now, the probe is being led by the state police. The box was found on May 10, about 3 km from the main venue but along the convoy route, during a routine anti-sabotage check ahead of the #PrimeMinister’s arrival. Inside were two #gelatin sticks and batteries with wires, though the circuit was not connected. The discovery has triggered a high-level security review, with indications that the NIA has expressed interest in taking over the case. Earlier that morning, police received a phone call alleging a bomb had been placed along the PM’s convoy route. Within an hour, #Bengaluru city police identified and detained the caller. Police confirmed it was a hoax, noting the individual had made similar calls in the past and is mentally unstable. Investigators are still probing the suspect’s motive. While state police continue to lead the investigation, the gravity of the find near a VVIP route has drawn federal attention. Dr. Parameshwara said, “There is a possibility that the NIA might also get involved. I have learned that they have asked to investigate the matter. If they ask, we will hand it over to them.” When asked about possible links to organized terrorism, the Minister maintained a cautious stance, refusing to speculate until forensic and intelligence reports were finalized. “We don’t know yet. Until the investigation is complete, we cannot say anything,” he noted. The materials found alongside the gelatin sticks have raised serious concerns about whether there was a deliberate attempt to create a security scare during the PM #NarendraModi's visit. @narendramodi @NIA_India @DrParameshwara @ArtofLiving
