Still thinking about last Saturday—getting heat exhaustion & having to end my race early after only completing 34 of 60 miles.
The race director shared this quote today in a group for for the runners, so I thought I'd pass it along.

Taking a little time to rest, but then it's back to building for the next adventure.
I failed to hit my goal of completing a 52-mile mountain race this weekend.
In this photo, I was leaving the mile ~18 aid station. I felt really solid despite knowing I was about to embark on the most arduous climb I've ever attempted (never mind the copious amounts of mud on the course).
Also, I really thought I was at least somewhat smiling in this photo when I took it. So in case you ever wondered what my focused look is, this is it.
Ultimately, the 16-mile climb CRUSHED my ability to keep pace and I missed the required checkpoint requirement at ~mile 34 by about 24 minutes.
What's wild to me is I was very much still mentally in the race. And physically, I was more than capable and willing to keep going—just a bit too slow.
Despite not hitting my goal, I'm not chalking this up as a failure. I did 34.4 miles with ~5,600ft of elevation climb, and ~7,000ft of elevation decline. That's still my biggest single trail run!
What's next?
I took off yesterday and will likely keep today as a rest day. I've been doing a lot of reflection on my training, how the race went, and how I'm feeling (physically and mentally) to help shape training from here.
The goal is to complete a 50 miler this year. Organized race or not, it's going to happen. TBD on when the next attempt will be.

The annual "Should we still do handshake lines?" debate is popping up I see. I say everyone just gets in line and gives a quick high five like an adult and moves on. Call me crazy.
@ClaytonACollins I think the chatGPT training set only uses data until 2021. Needless to say, the real estate market is wildly different now. Funny how it’s response would have been relatively accurate if you time stamped it 2021 lol

The new 3P part is letting sellers to Opendoor list it there for 2 weeks to see if they get an offer above Opendoor's buy price, with Opendoor also matching a lower bank valuation for the buyer.
