Shopify pulled 15,521 app reviews today. The old record was 3,944. Last week I posted that the purge had started. I figured it would taper off by now. It didn't. It's run about 4x normal for nine of the last ten days straight. Today it went to 30x. Reviews pulled per day, across every listing I track: The two weeks before July 6: 513Since the announcement: about 2,060Today: 15,521 across 2,962 apps Anyone else getting hit?

@jzazove I’m a bit confused with what is actually changing here? Is this not what triggered every other app to start putting PB: App in front of their app titles making the App Store look like spam?

Hello friends 👋 I got married I guess I never posted officially but me and Lauren tied the knot in the Texas Hill Country in the fall It was a small ceremony with a dozen of our immediate family members The wedding turned out great. Our families spent the weekend going on walks, playing games, sharing meals, and telling stories There's a world in which I would have loved having a huge wedding- perhaps more like a conference? With lanyards? But we this small family weekend together and it was so intimate and great that I wouldn't change a thing Married life has been great btw I highly recommend finding an amazing partner who inspires you to become the best version of yourself

You have a choice: put yourself in the hospital because you’re addicted to your terminal output or abuse these new tools to work less and spend more time with your family/on your health/hobbies. Yesterday, I burned ~250m tokens with @cursor_ai cloud agents but you wouldn’t have known because I didn’t open my laptop once. Too busy playing in the river and eating.

I'm done with them fucking with us. Ended up in hospital today from stress. Stayed up all night pushing my limits too hard, thinking it would be removed. Health comes first. Do better @AnthropicAI

@jessethanley @Bento This is unreal Jesse!! I’m stoked to see this and have been planning something similar. And as a customer I think it’d give nothing but more trust in bento. Human and real.

Trying something new: this 夏 (Summer) I'm going to record little videos, outside of the home, about things I'm working on with @Bento. Sometimes about email, often not. The next few videos will be about tiny things I've added to our app that have helped. Let me know if there's anything you want me to talk about!

Shopify is strengthening trust for partners across the ecosystem, starting with identity verification. Partners take actions across Shopify that can directly affect merchants — from collaboration to apps and other sensitive workflows. Over time, IDV will be introduced across more partner areas where trust and accountability matter. We’re starting with collaborator requests. Collaborator access is built on trust: when a merchant approves a request, they’re giving a partner access to a live store. IDV helps protect merchants, reduce abuse, and make it harder for bad actors to operate. It also helps create a better experience for legitimate partners by raising the trust baseline across the ecosystem. Partners will have time to complete IDV before it becomes mandatory. For this launch, IDV can be required before sending a new collaborator request, but it isn’t required just to access collaborator shops where access has already been granted. Another fake 1 star Shopify review published today, this is on top of the fake one from last month that were still waiting to be removed. Again, 1 minute of usage, no orders, no payments, no customer support inquiries, no responses to our emails, blatantly fake reviews.

And yet another fake Shopify app review.. Complaining that their order hasn't shipped in ages.. after 1 minute of app usage 😂 Not even clever, and unfortunately dropped our rating by .2

Shopify settled its copyright suit against Shopline this week. Shopline copied Shopify's open source Dawn theme, rebranded it Seed, and sold it as a rival product for two years before getting caught. Shopify's COO summed up the win in one word: FAFO. Most small teams that get ripped off like this never see a courtroom. They can't afford the fight. Shopify could, and it won. That is the part worth paying attention to.

The Shopify App Store is getting out of control 🤦 We’re now seeing apps being approved with names that are identical to established apps, creating confusion for merchants and benefiting from someone else’s brand recognition. This hurts trust in the ecosystem and shouldn’t be allowed. How is this getting approved and why is it still live? @liam_at_shopify @ShopifyDevs @jzazove

@uvkewate I think it depends on niche. For generic / wide apps it makes sense, for small apps it sometimes is more effort for not much return

Agency partnerships are the most underrated growth channel for Shopify apps. One agency deal can bring 20+ installs in a month. While founders are grinding for one organic install a day, agencies are batch installing for their clients.

Building in-house analytics and replacing Mantle. There are so many new changes coming with nothing enough time and good planning! - Expiring Access Tokens: Offline Access Tokens will now be expired and need to be super careful when used by multiple internal services. There's no contingency if the token gets lost on refresh. - Historical Events: Partner API is being enriched with a lot of data but sadly, the data is not backfilled even for last 3 years. We have very less time to migrate but hard to test without data. - Shopify App Pricing: Partner APIs are being designed by keeping new app pricing in mind. Billing API is now legacy. - Mantle Shutting Down: Increases a lot of the workload but not enough data, not enough time to migrate and so many changes happening at once. I have no idea why so many things are being pushed so aggressively on app devs. It was not easy to keep up with API version changes but not so many breaking changes are being released without proper migrations in place. First time I am saying this - Not a great time to be a Shopify app dev right now! 😓
