🇨🇦 Building https://t.co/AhLeNY3M5P, https://t.co/shsD598bO3, and entirely too many community platforms like https://t.co/gYkvJwzwtc to bring people together.

@tokifyi Why not get a place to do that more often? It’s nice to have.

hey founders & builders!
after months of building solo, i’m hosting a lowkey builder happy hour in vancouver
+ drinks, stories, real human connection (something ai can’t do)
no pitches, no panels, just builders hanging out irl
spots are tiny, reply/dm if you want to join and i’ll send you the rsvp form

@patrickbo11e Love it! Are the sources generally available and free?

I built a user-submitted directory of all the niche groups, clubs, and communities happening in Vancouver. It's all free and open-source.
vancouvercommunity.org
Find a philosophy club, dinner club, chess party, hiking group, or whatever you are looking for in the city.

the idea here is: what is truly the future of web dev? i'm not trying to take the human out of the loop entirely, but stuff like user suggestions should be paramount (hence why i'm building @jetsonhelp) - so what little experiments can i build on a site like this
English

you can see it all in action here: github.com/patrickbolle/v…
is this the best architecture I've ever seen? absolutely not - but this idea was originally just a folder of markdown documents, so this is a fun evolution

one of the coolest things about vancouvercommunity.org is how user edits and submissions work. I have Claude Code actions that auto edit, de-duplicate, and add new submissions when users ask for changes via various feedback forms. The site is *almost* completely self updating.

English

@shawnbuilds Ahaha. I basically have this built for myself. Auto adds to your calendar. Can show you. Issue is data reliability unfortunately. If the data is 100% correct it’s great but if it’s off, it sucks
English

@patrickbo11e Can you turn this into a WhatsApp group that sends a message daily of all the events happening?
Worked really well in Bangkok
English

@JordanFinners @ShopifyDevs yep, I do that! But merchants want the Sidekick image generation, etc. It's just a janky experience compared to the native one.
English

@patrickbo11e @ShopifyDevs You could get most of the way with the picker, if you feed it the files etc
shopify.dev/docs/api/app-h…

. @ShopifyDevs more than anything I want this media picker exposed in App Bridge - it would make my user's lives so much better.

English

@john_mccain__ @PamaEcom @ShopifyDevs Does that use sidekick for generation? Or just your own llm implementation
English

@patrickbo11e @PamaEcom @ShopifyDevs That’s funny because I just made it exactly the same, you don’t need it in app bridge, just a good prompt 😂

English

@tokifyi pretty meh. gives you data but still forces you to do the actions / the real work
English

you cant really vibe marketing, at least for now
its mostly slop
but given the views (12m) it got, its a very successful launch
v curious if anyone tried it and found it useful tho

@matthewsmith @nikolasbydesign @ShopifyDevs i don't use intents, but my hacky workaround is a resource picker that allows the user to select from their store files/assets, or click "upload from computer" to open file dialog. not great

Claude Desktop is starting to enter deeper into the content space, showing recipes in nicely formatted cards. It's quite nice, actually - the cook mode is a nice touch.

@nick_wesselman Yes, it's confused me (and Claude Code) a few times on what is going on.
English

@JesseSchoberg @Shopify working exactly as intended, the system knows what’s good!!!
English

@patrickbo11e @Shopify Looks really good tested it on a few sites and they all recommended fixing some SEO issues on the built in blog by installing the DropInBlog app. Good advice?

A few weeks ago I launched my fourth @Shopify app: Recon Brand Protection. It is a free app that monitors your Shopify store, highlights security risks with domain / email configs, & keeps an eye on clone stores / phishing websites using your brand info. apps.shopify.com/recon-bot
