You only hurt the women’s game with statements like this. You create an “us vs. them” narrative that wasn’t there before and give people a reason to attack the women’s team or see them as a nuisance, because you’re taking their statements out of context and using them as a weapon

Have woken up completely numb this morning. I haven't even been able to abuse the buffet breakfast, which tells you something.
We blew it last night, make no mistakes. 2-0 up and cruising, then we implode and go retrieve into ourselves trying to hold on.
This is the worst playoff defeat that I can remember off the top of my head.
All we had to do was keep calm and keep it in our hands, because we had it - devastated.

I’m as devastated as anyone after that match. I’d have loved to experience Ireland in a World Cup and think we could’ve really done with it to lift the nations morale but I just cannot believe the disgusting things I’m reading on here abusing our players on the national team.

There will always be moments to look back on but thought overall we turned up and played well, particularly in that first half.
