@fermatslibrary Here is curiosity. Special relativity should be fixed: can be shown wrong.

Matter as Machine@matterasmachine
Let's assume that relativistic source S is moving away from observer O. S emits photon in the direction of O, but O never gets it: Relativistic sources produce directional light. Where is the photon? Did it disappear? The only possible answer - it follows S. Special Relativity..

@socratesccost @DrNeilStone It was changed to accommodate a newly approved delivery method. The general concept of a vaccine, however, entirely covers this mechanism of immunization. It is a vaccine under any standard scientific definition.
English

@socratesccost @DrNeilStone Please confine your objections to current, scientifically accepted uses of the term, vaccine. You can refer to the Merriam-Webster definition as well: merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vac…
English

@socratesccost @DrNeilStone Assuming you are talking about the mRNA COVID vaccines - why not? What is the definition of a vaccine you are using and what particular aspect of the mRNA vaccines don’t fit with this? Asking as an immunologist, so please don’t worry about getting too detailed.
English

@michaelpollan Numerous, rigorous studies demonstrate that vaccines do not cause autism. Vaccines without mandates reduce their effectiveness as they rely on herd immunity to some extent. With vaccine choice, children will get seriously ill, have lifetime complications, and die.

@JeromeAdamsMD Mostly ordered out in my experience, at the preference of whoever ordered. Does the White House itself have that same last minute issue? Seems like it.

English

So you haven’t been on the Air Force one or a similar trip. Glad we established that. I’ve flown private quite a bit too. Not just with Trump. And not every private plane has a full kitchen or staffing to do meals for people. Again, most of the time Ive flown private and actually had a meal we still ordered out. As I mentioned schedules and people change on these kinds of political trips so you still are often ordering last minute. Which takes us back to convenience. When you suddenly discover you need to feed 12 instead of 6 people, or instead of staying the night you’re flying home at 10pm and no one has eaten all day, convenience matters.
English

Several people have asked for my reaction to this picture. As a doctor who can afford healthy food, I still find McDonald's more convenient and available for me and my kids, especially when on the go. It's easier for serving a crowd as everyone already knows what they want, and most everyone can find something they like. Having been on Air Force One, even there it's more practical to grab McDonald's than find a healthy alternative. Trump may have been making a political point, but the convenience of fast food is ingrained in our culture, even for billionaires…

@JeromeAdamsMD I have flown private with shifting schedules and last minute changes and reasonably extrapolated to AF1. Your experience is entirely with Trump? Perhaps it was biased towards McDonald’s because of his preferences?
English

So you’ve flown on Air Force one? I love how authoritatively and definitively people who’ve never done something, will speak to people who actually have. (The issue is with scheduling - we are always running late and shifting schedules while traveling making it hard to plan- several times trips and passengers completely changed mid trip).
English

@BonnickMark @NiohBerg Here you go. A nice little summary. There is enormous Talmudic commentary on this central and nuanced topic. Use Perplexity to explore. Here is a start.

English

@Coastal_Duo All far more actually proven to be harmful and understood from a dose-response perspective than are “seed oils.”
English

@Coastal_Duo @ffyring @sharmutal @nakgup @SwipeWright Processed foods that are clearly harming the majority of Americans are convenience foods. While canola oil etc is processed, it is not what is meant by nutritionists when speaking of processed foods that are high in sugar, salt, and carcinogenic nitrates.
English

@pbleic @ffyring @GravellSam @sharmutal @nakgup @SwipeWright Processed foods are poisoning us. That is the debate. Why is there so much resistance to that? Part of the ‘processing’ is the use of seed oils in combination with preservatives and other chemicals. The compounding of all of these things ppl eat over time is not healthy.
English

@Coastal_Duo @ffyring @GravellSam @sharmutal @nakgup @SwipeWright We are far more healthy as a society than we have ever been because of vaccines, antibiotics, statins, and now GLP-1 drugs. Chronic disease can be dramatically reduced by: stopping smoking, losing weight, exercising, stop eating processed foods. All choices Americans make
English

@pbleic @ffyring @GravellSam @sharmutal @nakgup @SwipeWright Interesting. Let’s see how this plays out, as articles are saying we don’t. As a society, we are very unhealthy. Consumption over time is not benign.
English

@Coastal_Duo @ffyring @GravellSam @sharmutal @nakgup @SwipeWright Let’s see how this plays out?? Seriously? I just sent you the section of the Code of Federal Regulations that shows you the articles you read are dead wrong about this. Don’t you wonder what else they could be wrong about?
