Subliminal advertising on steroids.
Jordan Saunders@jsaunders_
Companies are studying your brain to get you to buy more stuff. It's called neuromarketing. They use brain scans, eye tracking, and heart rate monitors to figure out what you actually want. Not what you say you want. 4 tactics they use on you every day:

@ingelramdecoucy Not as nice as Gary, Indiana, but pretty close

@jsaunders_ I was in the business for almost 30 years, this is a crock, a made-up fad from hucksters doing seminars to fools in the ad industry. I fervently believe there is no one more gullible than a CMO thinking he's missing out on the next big thing

@Taxpayers1234 May explain why so many pro sports fans act like idiots in the stands during a game

YES. Gambling is awful.
Jonathan Haidt@JonHaidt
In addition to phone-free schools, there seems to be one more area where left and right can agree: Pervasive frictionless heavily advertised gambling is a scourge. States that legalized it are harming their own citizens and especially their young adults.

@GigaBasedDad True Texans do not consider themselves "southerners," they are Texans

*that poster is sorta my brother's Rosebud. It was an amazing WPA or CCC recruitment poster from circa 1940, a la this but much cooler. Had a two-fisted dude driving a bulldozer through a forest. He found it in an abandoned school building, and idiotically threw it into the trash on Iowa State U dorm move-out day.

Coo loo coo coo, coo coo coo coo!
Get in hosers, today's episode of Dave's Car ID Service is taking off for the Great White North with a salute the oddball world of Canadian-spec car models and brands.
Pictured airdropping a keg of Elsinore over Toronto: Bob & Doug McKenzie's 1977 GMC Vandura from the Canadian cinematic masterpiece STRANGE BREW (1983). Sadly not a Canada spec item, but there was an era when residents of Canada had a bevy of cars Detroit (more specifically Windsor) made especially for them - albeit minor twists on their American cousins.

@TracesofTexas That’s right, he’s not from Texas
But Texas wants him anyway

As y'all may be aware, Chuck Norris has died. Chuck was not born in Texas but he was associated with Texas and certainly had many traces of the Lone Star state, including his long-running role in Walker, Texas Ranger, his 1,000-acre ranch near Navasota and other business interests in Texas, being named an honorary Texan and an honorary Texas Ranger by Gov. Rick Perry etc... All I know is, when Chuck approaches the pearly gates, St. Peter had best be minding his P's and Q's. 😃
RIP Chuck Norris!

We are saddened to announce our long-time third shift diesel attendant Carlos "CHUCK" Norris passed away in his sleep yesterday after death was too scared to attack him during normal hours.
Chuck was an unremarkable employee whose only disciplinary action came in 2008 when he unjammed the store ATM with a devastating roundhouse kick. He will be missed.

@LibertyCappy Looks like he fell face-first into a tackle box
