I'm not gonna lie, the @Meta layoffs are some of the most dystopian I've ever seen. They got told to work from home, they were sent the emails at 4AM in the morning. Those who weren't impacted have software on their computer that tracks their every move, preparing AI to take their job as well. They're literally training the AI that will eliminate their position as well. Meanwhile, Meta is raking in RECORD PROFITS. I am a massive, unapologetic AI enthusiast. Yet, this is NOT the future I had in mind. I wish for Meta to crash and burn. This is not the way. Literally nobody benefits from this.

Luxembourg City is ~135K, the country ~660K. Trilingual by default (Luxembourgish, French, German), with English widely spoken in EU and finance contexts. Family infrastructure top-tier European: International School of Luxembourg (ISL), European School of Luxembourg I and II, St. George's International School, Lycée Vauban. Healthcare excellent. Free public transport across the entire country since 2020. The other catch: small (2,586 km²), expat ecosystem heavy in finance and EU institutions, housing expensive (€3,000-4,500 for a family 3-bedroom in the center). And to be honest, Luxembourg could be boring. Narrower nightlife, narrower cultural scene, fewer distinct neighborhoods than any other capital on this list. That's part of why it works for families, and part of why most people skip it. Personally, I'd consider it. EU passport, portfolio CG zero, top-tier safety, top-tier schools, an hour from Brussels, two from Paris. Also, lovely architecture. For families who can handle small and quiet, one of the most efficient deals in Europe.

Yes, BBC reporter Jane Standley reported WTC 7 (Salomon Brothers Building) had collapsed ~26 minutes early (around 4:54 PM ET) on 9/11 while it was still visibly standing behind her. It collapsed at 5:20 PM. This stemmed from an erroneous Reuters wire report picked up in the day's chaos (CNN and others repeated similar info). BBC called it a straightforward reporting mistake with no foreknowledge or script. NIST later determined uncontrolled fires caused the collapse.
