@brianmccormick I get the “efficiency”-thing, but EVERY championship game/series is filled w/ mid-range shots cause the D at that stage is elite and takes away 3’s and layups. IMHO you gotta make middies to win big.

Player makes a midrange jump shot and analysts can’t stop talking about the midrange. Miss the next five midrange shots and absolute silence.

Lauren’s courageous vulnerability never ceases to amaze me. Wow! I love her strength in sharing her story for the sake of another. I wish I was that strong at her age. #uncommon

I want to be open about my struggle with depression. I’m in a much better place now, but I hope this helps anyone else who is going through the same thing. 🩵 @PlayersTribune theplayerstribune.com/lauren-betts-n…

@tsnmike Yes - rules change to enhance the EOG. It happens in all leagues. It happens because it’s BETTER for the game. In bball, this list benefits one team: stopping the clock after a made basket; the RA circle; adjusted block/charge rule; relaxed continuation (all offense)!

@pearsonjeff NHL doesn’t enhance the end of a regular game. It changes overtime so the game ends rapidly. The same for baseball. The second base rule affects both teams equally. Advancing the ball does not. And NFL even changed overtime rule to assure equal treatment of both teams. Duh

@tsnmike You don’t watch sports very much do you? Guess you haven’t seen the end of MLB extra inning games or NHL overtimes or NFL overtimes - which, since you don’t watch them - ALL have special rules in place to enhance the end of game situations. 🤦‍♂️

@mgiannotto Why is it difficult to admit that you can be a great person AND bad at your job? He yells all game, repeats what he says 2-3x, never adds substance, doesn’t really prepare, talks waaaay too much, rehashes the same stories. Glad he did a tourney game - hope he calls it quits!

Anyone complaining about Dick Vitale calling his first NCAA Tournament game on TV last night has no soul. I found the many tangents between him and Barkley to be heartwarming after everything Dickie V has been through in recent years.

@tsnmike Well, virtually EVERY rule change the last 10yrs has favored the offense- in an effort to “improve the game”. Restricted arc; freedom of movement; block/charge definition relaxed; continuous motion elongated. End of games are better in NBA/NCAAW, in part, because of advance ball.

@pearsonjeff I guess it would be better if we didn’t allow anybody to play defense, think of how many points everyone can score!!

@JustinPecka @CoachBFen This was essentially a lesson in logic. If someone can show me a study w/ facts/figures/numbers/etc rooted in “real world” Synergy-data, then I’ll convert. Anyone?

@DanaONeilWriter 2026 Big East Tournament Quarterfinal Day (Thr.) “Tracker”: “Aforementioned” - 3 “Penultimate” - 4 Most impressive is that this is all done during the pauses in the running conversations with his producer sitting next to him!!!

I'd like to applaud the Garden public address announcer for his frequent and proper use of the word, 'aforementioned.'

@HalfCourtHoops The rules and interpretations don’t allow for a penalty UNLESS the players/personnel from the bench interrupt/impede players on the court.

Pretty crazy you can just run off the bench at the end if these games. Happened twice already today.

@ErniePantusso_ @smharrington24 Because the most efficient method is forcing the offense to shoot “tough 2’s”. The PPP (points per possession) stats show that contested mid-range shots (8’-17’ shots) are worst vs open 3’s/layups.

@smharrington24 Honest opinion. Why don’t they hedge on screens to slow down the guards?

The bad: Illini blow a 15 pt second half lead. Illini are struggling to close out games. They have a hard time stopping good guards, drivers or shooters. The good: they will be a 3 seed. They will be rested. They should be pissed and ready to go. They can beat anybody.

@walkeri141 You can see they discuss it too. Felt like Chiazza knew the call wasn’t right but assuming Driscoll was firm with keeping the call as is.

This is brutal. Pat is a vet but this is a bad miss. Bit on the pump fake as much as the defender did - not a shooting foul. You NEED trail to come overrule here. Trail has PCA here anyways and good look. This is a game breaker where you need an overrule. Live and die as a crew
Roger Ayers Ref Tracker@AyersRefTracker

This is a really bad miss in a tied OT game by veteran Pat Driscoll. Clearly a foul on the floor, yet he called it a shooting foul. If called on the floor, would have been a 1-and-1, instead of a 2 shot foul (he ended up missing the 1st and making the 2nd FT).
